Id take a 3rd the day of the deadline but try for a 2nd till then and knowing darcy hes looking for a 1st + a prospect WE NEED TO FIRE DARCY AND GET SOMEONE WHOS SERIOUS AND THEN ROCK ON
id personally like to hang on to goose because outside of him our centers arent too good on the draw
totally agree though on darcy, i could see him being one to try to get a first for goose

this is why i wanted a 2nd for him. hes a good solid player i would love to trade him and then get him back next season during free agency. i wouldn't give him any raise if anything less and i hate to see someone walk for free when the rest of the season dont really matter. so if he gets traded its not like were hurting anything on the team now when we could sign someone from the street to finish the year and help the future with a 2nd rounded. we would then have 3 2nd rounders think about it pominville was a second rounder with the picks we add we could have a nice team in a few years. when we traded our team in 2002 and ended up with briere and drury START THE REBUILD its sounds bad but we could still be contenders next season with the right moves
I'd say fair value is a 3rd + prospect from a recent draft who still has a few years of development before sniffing the NHL. That said, poking around other teams' boards, Gaustad seems to be a player in demand because of his size, faceoff ability, and defense-first mindset, so it's possible that there could be some competition for his services, which may raise the price. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

This basically says what I was thinking also, there could be a competitive market for him. There is another post in which Vancouver is talking about his value if you want to compare his value from their perspective.
I would like Gaustad on the Rangers. Everyone is focusing on a top 6 winger which yes is still the number 1 target but I think they get depth C as well
besides Gaustad I think Moore and Pahlsson are options
3rd at the most hoping for less
Johnny Malkin Mitchell kinds scares me in the playoffs

Scares me that they aren't fully utilizing a player with his sick dangles. Trade for Gaustad so Mitchell can play 2nd line wing with Richards .
Honestly, I do love how Mitchell has played and aren't worried about him as a bottom 6 wing in the playoffs with a bit of scoring punch. Absolutely need the faceoff help that a guy like Goose would provide down there though.
Buffalo doesn't have its 4th this year. We traded it to the Islanders for Ehrhoff's rights. Just simplify the deal and make it Gaustad for a 2nd.
I think Goose's value, in a vacuum, is closer to a 3rd, but it sounds as if several teams are interested in what he'd bring to their lineup (faceoffs, size, some physicality), and he's peaking at the right time. If Buffalo decides that they don't want to give him a raise--and I don't think they should give him one--then I'd be fine with moving him for a 2nd.
Goose for Wolski is terrible for the Sabres, we have no need for him (or any wingers for that matter) and his cap hit probably pushes us over the cap. If we're trading Goose it's directly for futures. You also won't need a fourth line pivot if you get and resign Gaustad. 3rd and Lindberg makes sense or just a second.
Sabres need to be reworking their whole team. Goose for Wolski would be just one of a series of moves. Much like Columbus, all the moves they've made this past season and the team they've assembled, hasn't produced anything close to a winner. Changes need to be made.

Yeah and trading for no show Wolski is going to make this team better. I'd rather have the 2nd, thanks.
