Sorry to say but that's a lot of NYers whenever a team other than the Yankees does well. If the Rangers make a deep run, I can't wait to see the people jumping on the Rangers bandwagon. Unfortunately, these are also the fans who talk more crap than anyone else.
I heard there was more Jets bashing going on than Boston bashing. Giants fans can't stop thinking about us, so kind.
Not to stir the Jets vs. Giants pot in this thread, but the reason for the Jets bashing was brought upon by your head coach. He said the Jets were the better team and that this was a Jets city without winning anything. Well this is the Giants and their fans retorting to that.
I don't want to come off as misogynistic, but what do you expect when you interview a woman for a sports story. 90% of the woman celebrating this victory are bandwagoners including our wives and girlfriends who watched the game with us. It's just the way it is, every championship team is gonna have bandwagoners, just the sheer size of NY alone will ensure a lot of this. That's why a Mets WS win would be so sweet cause most of the town is/has been on the Yankee bandwagon for almost 20 years (calm down true yankee fans, i'm talking bout all the ones who jumped on after 96, especially the ones who were mets fans who suddenly "always" yankees fans after 96), and yet Mets fans no matter how pathetic we are still remain Mets fans.
That's just BS. There are plenty of bandwagoning males too. It happens every time a team in any sport wins a championship.

Yeah those two trips to the AFC Championship Game seem even less impressive now.
Like it has been said a million times in this thread. I, as a Giants fan, never felt any animosity towards the Jets. I actually pulled for them to win games. Now Rex Ryan comes along and makes it one big competition.

So don't talk about being the best team in NY without winning a damn thing. Now you're at the back of the line, again, and will be until you win a trophy.

I don't know why you left the Yanks out because I think some of the Yanks bandwagoners in this city are the worst. They have a ton of diehards but also a ton of October fans.
The **** being tossed at the Jets is annoying to me too as a Jets fan watching all the coverage today but this is on Rex. He talked to the talk and the team didn't walk the walk. Just have to take the lumps of one of my teams imploding and embarrassing themselves again. I should be used to it by now.
the yankees have had the largest amount of bandwagon fans out of any ny sports team, to be fair they've also won the most. but my god those were some nauseating times during their run to be surrounded by absolute fair weather fans (was in HS 96-00 on long island) hopping on the bandwagon many of them who were mets fans growing up or who didn't give too ***** about baseball prior to 96. but whatever a lot of their younger fan base has legit claim being that they've grown up with the team winning, lol can you imagine being a yankee and giants fan growing up with all this winning, it's ****ing unnatural.
If the Rangers win the cup, there will be bunches of people in the Tristate area to hop on the bandwagon. The "fan" who says "well I used to watch the Rangers when I was younger but then I lost interest" and conveniently return to the fanbase when the team is successful. Even some of the NY area sports fans who hate hockey will become bandwagon jumpers. Casual fans and non-fans desperately want to be in on the action when an NY sports team is championship bound.
there are 2 diehard fanbases in ny that will go to the games and sell out regardless if the team is first or last, years of winning and losing.. rangers and giants.
Personally, I don't mind bandwagon fans if they become long-term fans.
If a championship run sparks their interest and they become life-long fans, then what's the problem?
I started watching hockey as a kid in 91 right when the Rangers were on the rise. Am I a bandwaggoner?
I started watching the Mets in 85-86 when they were a dominant team. Am I a bandwaggoner? Im still a Mets fan.
I watched as a kid when the Giants won the Super Bowl in 90-91. Am I a band-wagoner because I was only "casual" through out my life? They are the football team I love and am loyal to. Even though I know vast less than I do about the Rangers.
The only team im rabidly gaga over are the Rangers. But I still am loyal to and love the Giants, Mets, Red Bulls...and if I followed basketball at all, the Knicks.
I don't consider myself a bandwaggoner. Though.
Its good for the teams if other who had no interest, had a spark of interest now. Maybe they become life-long fans now.
And honestly, I've always been honest and open about my feelings on this board. What I feel the most about this and 42 is regret. That I wasn't as rabid as I am with the Rangers because I missed that feeling the die-hards have now. Which is euphoria. Granted im VERY happy and VERY proud of my team.

There is a big difference between new fans and bandwagon fans. Bandwagon fans don't put the time and effort in to learn the players. New fans usually learn half the team pretty early on.
Was never big on Baseball, but have a son who started playing T-ball around the time Jeter showed up and we just naturally started watching baseball.
I watchh the Yankees after hockey is over, but I've never been to a game and I dont have any jerseys or hats or anything. And yes I watch more as the fall approaches.
Nowhere, and I mean nowhere, is the bandwagon worse than in Pittsburgh. Fans absolutely nowhere to be found for years while their teams suck, to the point that they almost have to relocate, then pull some of the highest per-capita numbers when their teams are doing well. Even when they're good, most people can only name the absolutely most famous players on their teams. It's sickening to me. I watched the Giants and Rangers religiously even in the dark years, so I can't stand the people who act like they've been the hugest fans when we're good.
The only exemption I tend to make are for wives and girlfriends. Personally, I know my fiance could care less about the Rangers, but she wears the gear and cheers them on when I'm around to make me happy and spend quality time together. She doesn't pretend to be hardcore or some mega-fan, though.
Kurt Warner just said some very harsh things about Eli Manning and his potential Hall of Fame credentials.
There is a little truth to what Warner said, but he just comes across as extremely bitter. Eli DID take his starting job, and Eli has the 2 Super Bowl wins, whereas Kurt couldn't get the second one.
Kurt also said some very harsh things about Eli a few weeks ago, saying when he was on the Giants, Eli was playing, and I'm paraphrasing, "the worst quarterback I've ever seen." The guy was a rookie. What was he expecting?

Kurt Warner is a pompous *****. As high and mighty as he portrays himself, he's always been a dick.
If Eli retired today I'm not sure if he would be in the HOF because he has only played 8 seasons. If you look at all the HOF QB's they all played for an average of 14-16 seasons. The only exceptions to that are Jim Kelly (10 seasons) and Otto Graham (9 seasons). Granted the difference is those two guys don't have 2 Super Bowl MVPs.
That being said, he is on the right track. 4-5 more seasons of around 4k yards should be enough to get him in.
