Don't the Players say Philly is the toughest to play in because the crowd is on top of them all game long?

That to me would indicate best crowd, unless the parameters are deciding aren't first hand that is?

Boston should not be in the top five if you're basing this off of crowd noise.

1) Montreal
2) Winnipeg
3) Toronto
4) Detroit
5) Chicago

Noise shouldn't be the only indicator, as the arena has a big say. When and how the crowd reacts is more important.

I haven't been to any other arena except for the Canucks so I can't really comment too much. I thought Nashville looked awesome last year as well as the years before. Montreal always seems insane and Philly seems pretty good. For the Canucks, there are a lot of quiet nights during the season but it does get ramped up in the playoffs. At the same time, I think quiet fans get a bad rep... they are not necessarily "suits", most of the games I go to, I lean forward (sorry for those sitting above me, only one row behind me anyway, lol) and stare intensely only making noise on the big plays

Is this only based on crowd noise? I have to think the Canucks sell out streak has to put us near the tops when it comes to crowds of people. I mean we're at like 380+ games.

noise wise nashville is louder.. but the amount of sellouts as your saying 380+ is far more impressive

If you could determine this on one section of the arena Smashville would be tops

Only been to Boston and Philly (and the Philly game was a Bruins blowout), but from watching on TV I'd say Winnipeg and Montreal are the top two, hands down.

Ive been to a few games in Buffalo with the leafs and sabres but this game was absolutely nuts at the end. Probably 10000+ leafs fans at this game. I also went to a game at the bell centre this year between the habs and leafs, that was a great atmosphere as well.

I only have a top 3 and I think these teams are a notch or two above the rest of the league.

Winnipeg
San Jose
Montreal

Pens when they're in Columbus

But really the top of this list begins and ends with Montreal. Winnipeg are also amazing. If QC gets a team, they'll definitely be in the top 5. For American crowds, always been impressed by Nashville and to a lesser degree, San Jose and Washington.

As a Habs fan I really feel that attending a Habs game was one of the most unique and exciting experiences of my life, especially my first game.

With that, here's my top 5:

1. Montreal
2. Boston
3. Philadelphia
4. Winnipeg
5. Chicago

This isn't that impressive, to be honest. But, I agree, Toronto is awesome during the playoffs.

no. ive seen on tv (different I'm aware).. and if takes a playoff game to make noise, then that makes my point.

watch tonight for example for those who have center ice.. red wings in detroit versus st louis .. detroits biggest game so far while nashville plays columbus in nashville, the worst team in the nhl. watch those games and post in this thread with who was louder

MeleeRay is a troll, but Carolina is really massively underrated as far as this goes.

I'm pretty sure we still hold the decibel record set in 06, but I may be wrong on that.

But not by nearly as big a margin as in years past. Montreal still has a "good" crowd but if the team isn't competitive, the crowd quality takes a hit.

You've had a hate on for Winnipeg since it was announced that they were coming back, so people should take your opinion with a big grain of salt. As for people saying we're only the loudest because we have a small arena, I'm pretty sure that if we had a bigger arena with a few thousand more people we'd still be among the loudest. As for the novelty factor people, I'm thinking that if the crowds were going to die down due to the novelty wearing off, it would have started by now, we are over halfway done the season after all. I don't know if we are the loudest or not, but we sure have fun and that's good enough for me! I'm going to be a loud and proud STH for life, no matter how good or bad the team plays!

Yep, Winnipeg is only loud because of the size of the arena - nothing to do with the fans bringing it for 60 minutes
