I can see the organization play him at center in Houston to let him develop.
Plus he's a year behind Coyle, Larsson, and Granlund, and never played anything but junior.

The competition for roster spots next fall will be the best we've seen in years, maybe ever.

Definitely, I hope we at least get to see Larsson, Coyle, and Granlund on the Wild and Philips in the AHL.

i'm expecting larsson and granlund to be on the wild and phillips in houston next year, but can coyle really make the jump? it cant hurt him to go to houston right? then we would just have a beastly AHL team. i dont want to rush anyone like we did with gillies and shepp

This probably means nothing, but for what it's worth, both Coyle and Larsson have Houston listed as their 2012-2013 teams on Eliteprospects.com - Phillips, Brodin, and Granlund's teams for next year are still unlisted.

i think that both granlund and larson make it. (ie guys playing in the higher tier pro leagues already).

Maybe brodin but i would like to see him work himself into a position where he is playing a little more offensive role (powerplay, etc.)

Bulmer seemed to grow a little more offensively this year. Let him play in the AHL to continue that. He has shown he can handle the NHL but a little more AHL time couldn't hurt.

Just give Coyle, Phillip, and zucker all the playing time they can handle in the AHL. Should be a gigantic boost to the Aeros squad.

Coyle had an assist and Philips went pointless again and the Sea Dogs beat Chicoutimi 5 to 2. Up 2-0 in the best of 5 series.

Speaking of that, their next game (on Tuesday night) will be on TV.

So excited!

Coyle has to either play in Houston or St. Paul, so they probably feel comfortable assigning him. Larsson will be playing in NA per multiple sources, so it's the same deal with him. Granlund doesn't have a contract yet, Phillips is eligible to play in the Q next year, and Brodin could still end up back in Sweden next year. I wouldn't read any more into it.

Phillips is eligible...but is it mandated that he play there rather than the AHL if he is not in the NHL?

This is my opinion on where the top guys fit next year:

Granlund and Larsson seem like the front runners to me for Wild duty right out of camp. Granlund is ready for top 6 duty, and Larsson can contribute on the 3rd line. Their pro and international experience trumps that of our other prospects by miles.

Coyle is next, and I think he could play now in the NHL, but he had yet to adapt to the rigors of a long season, and I think the Wild will groom him for top line duty.

Bulmer, as someone mentioned, advanced by leaps and bounds offensively this season, and would benefit from continued chance to play top end minutes. Like Coyle, he could contribute right away, but would be better served growing into a more important role.

Phillips needs to play some pro hockey before he gets his shot.

Brodin, he plays in St. Paul next season.

I still think Granlund and Brodin are the only guys to make the big club next season. But, a top six in Houston of:

Zucker - Phillips - Coyle
Bulmer - Larsson - Palmieri

Would. Be. Awesome.

Prospects.

Throw in the #7 pick(Possibly?) and we'd be set.

Definitely a nice top 6. I would have to go see more Aeros games if it was.

Unless someone falls ala Couturier, i think the 7th overall pick goes back to Junior/wherever he is now.

He'll be eligible for AHL play. That's what I was getting at though, they don't have his team listed because it's far from clear which league he'll be playing in next season. Barring Coyle or Larsson making the Wild, they'll be in Houston. The rest of the guys are far less clear.

Even if someone fell, they're almost certain to return to Junior. The only 2012 draftees likely to see NHL time next year are Yakupov, Murray, and possibly Grigorenko or Forsberg. Rielly and Galchenyuk missed too much time with injury. Dumba needs to fill out substantially. From what I've heard, apparently no player has ever jumped from USHL directly to NHL (so no Trouba). Reinhart could play in the NHL, but any team that knows what's best for him won't put him there. Ceci needs more Junior time. Teravainen is almost a lock for returning to Finland. Faksa probably needs more CHL time as well. That's pretty much it for guys who could be picked top 7.

What do you guys think about Fontaine? He is putting up some pretty decent numbers for his first year in the AHL. He is a bit older but still some good depth

It was a very good year for him. I could definitely see him as. a fill-in for injuries next year. Him and Disalvitore.
