I am calling complete bull on that one. USHL is above BCHL any way you look at it. Sure, they have 4 good teams, other than that the league is crap. I'd put the BCHL on par with the NAHL, if anything. Lucia just crushed players 1-2 years older than him. BCHL is a league that players go through to make it in college hockey in Canada. It isn't that competitive of a league.

LINK

USHL put up 420 kids D 1 last year. BCHL did 182. NAHL did 191.

The weakest USHL teams would do well in the BCHL and the weakest BCHL team would get crushed in the USHL. I'd say Penticton would do just above average in the USHL. Thats about it. But to say the BCHL is better than the USHL? No way.

top 6 or bust?? i watched him for 3 years at duluth and you gotta just give this guy a chance. if zucker "fit" in ok in the 6 games for the wild, fontaine can too, he played in the same league obviously. why cant fontaine do a 3rd line deal at worst??

I watched Fontaine play at Duluth too. You're telling me he can play a gritty bottom-six role?

we could have a skilled yet somewhat physical 3rd line. all im saying is that he isn't just a top 6 or bust guy. we will need to mix skill and grit with all of the hopeful/potential talent that is on the way

Wow, you've gotta be kidding me.

Saint John just lost their first playoffs game in OT and it had to be on the only game shown on TV.

BTW, Coyle got 1 assist and Phillips nothing.

Anyone know why Coyle takes such a huge amount of the face-offs for Saint John?

I'm following the boxscore and Coyle has more than double the face-offs than anyone else on the team.

WFO/FO does mean won face-off / face-off right?

Pretty sure you've got it right.

Huberdeau 3 shots, no points, and a negative 2.

At least Coyle is still helping put some pucks in the net. Hopefully that loss was a wake up call to the team.

Fel, do you have any insight as to how they looked?

-Lucia scored but Penticton lost Tuesday night. They're still up 2-1 in their best-of-seven series

-Saint John lost tonight (as Fel mentioned) and Graovac scored Monday in a 5-2 loss

-Zucker is in Vegas working on his MMA

I don't know what you guys are seeing. Saw him a few times in high school and he didn't stand out too much, shot wide almost three times as many as he hit on net. Went to a crappy league, and I don't think he's done to much developing this year. Until he goes to Notre Dame and shows me something, I'm not going to be high on him.

I'm with you. Not saying he's going to suck but the optimism seems a little overblown.

A wake up call? I would say it was bound to happen eventually or Saint John should've been given a QMJHL championship already if all the games were going to end up 10-4 in the Sea Dogs' favor.

Phillips has been held scoreless in the last two games.

Agreed. I'm okay with taking Minnesota players in the draft, but trading up and then taking Seeler, too? That was a little too much.

Up to 3 (or all games in the Chicoutimi series) after last night.

Wait so is the next prospects thread the "2011-2012 Prospect Thread Part III"? Because it's really not that season anymore. Or is it the "2012 Offseason Prospect Thread"? Or do we just start with "2012-2013 Prospect Thread" already?!

Decisions, decisions.

You mean Seeler, one of the top scoring 18 year-old Dmen in the USHL?

Which also includes hind-sight. So, yes. That Seeler. Not even listed in Central scoutings North American skaters list.

Like I said on Twitter, there's nothing to write/talk about yesterday's performances.

The only positive thing (to me) was Coyle's nice assist.

Hey folks, tried to find a thread on Tyler Cuma (not too hard though) and was just wondering about your thoughts on him and how he progressed this year. Curious to see how he came along this year.

So, what you are saying is that Wild scouts > Central scouting?

Cause that's what you are saying.

He only played one game with the Wild and nobody here really watches Houston regularly. Not going to be much help, sorry...

I'll agree if he was a 1st round pick but Seeler was a 5th round pick. How often do teams follow the Central Scouting Rankings by that time late in draft.

Hell, I would argue with you even if it was a 2nd round pick.

Mot to mention he is a June birthday, which puts him at the younger end of the draft class, which for a MN HS kid is a handicap. There were probably some scouts at Eden Prairie games, but not the armies of scouts that watch the CHL.

The Wild probably got a pretty good look at him though.

Stay tuned tomorrow as Sweden takes on Czech Rep. in the first game in Kajotbet Hockey Games. Larsson is playing with Järnkrok and Landeskog, will be very interesting to see! Brodin will probably be paired with his physical team-mate Frögren from Färjestad.

Also Finland and Granlund will go up against Russia later same day...

BCHL isn't even close to the USHL... It's the 3rd best Junior A league in Canada... The CCHL might and I mean might be on par with the USHL and I still think its atleast a step below.
