Your eleven-year-old-cuts-down-Roy story is GOLD.

I've posted before of the Sabres I've met. Most from late '70s / early '80s when I was a kid and grew up off the NF Boulevard 5 minutes from both Sabreland and Tonawanda Ice Time back when those rinks were used for Sabres practice.

Since this type of encounter hasn't been mentioned, I'll throw it in. I remember being at St. Gregory's on Maple next to Millard Fillmore Suburban and seeing Ric Seiling (I think), Danny Gare, and Derek Smith sitting together in front of me. Since that wasn't my home parish, I assume it was a Sunday evening mass. I understand (from friends of my family) it was common for them to go togther - I think they were all roommates at the time.
Never actually met Cammi -even tho she was around the rink and in town. Tony's kid Mike was on one of my midget teams and he used to talk about her all the time and it was clear that she was very cool person (had to be to have that much of a 17 yr old's admiration). Granato's a really solid family!

We must have passed by each other back then. I used to skate at the N.To rink just like you said was where the Sabres practiced. Worked out on Niagara Fall Blvd during college pumping gas, car wash, retail, etc...

I lold.

Noticed Lindy Ruff at the old Sheridan Lanes early in his Sabres tenure. Had a couple beers, bowled. Saw him the next week at the Sabres Festival, so I asked him what his average was. He laughed and claimed that he stunk at bowling.

Sat in front of Mrs. Satan and Zhitnik's daughter one game. Miro scored a hat trick that night, so I just handed Ingrid my hat and she joked about how happy he'd be when he got home.

And the person sitting back to back with me? Rocket Richard.

An older french couple came by and were gushing over them, so I didn't groggily lie about being a fan. Gave BJB a knowing nod, guessing that they were taking the 6AM flight to avoid the commotion.
That might be the best story in this thread. '99....that was right before Rocket died

Same daughter almost knocked Dan Paille over running through the aisles at Tops. Paille thought it was hilarious.

Also saw Myers and Ennis shopping together in Wegmas the summer before Myers made the team. They were in the Asian food aisle and they looked completely lost and confused.
This especially the Myers/Ennis bit. It'd be funny to see Gerbe and Myers shopping together or waiting in line at the register.

I met Dave Anderchuk in 2004 about a month after tampa won the cup, he was on our flight from TAM to BUF. Was really nice and signed a few things

Thats it for the sabres

Met Tavares at the glen abbey golf course, we were the group behind him and had to wait all day jk.....JT hit into the group infront of him on the 18th and they were pissed

I was in line at the food court and mike fisher and carey underwood walked into get food

I used to work at Mcdonalds and syracuse crunch walked in, Brian Mcgratton was shocked when I knew who he was.

When I went in for my internship interview with the Sabres I met Rene Robert who was getting a tour or something.

He sees me dressed nicely with my shirt and tie and he says "Look at this guy, he's ready to go before I am" Not sure what he was talking about I just chuckled. So then he asks me "Why are you dressed up? Are you here for something or just ****in' around?"

I told him I had an interview upstairs to intern with the design team. So he wished me luck and I went on my way.

I owe my luck that day all to him.

i met several players a while years ago when I was younger at the country club my dad was a member at. I remember talking to biron and starting the conversation with him in the bathroom lol

Best story tho is when I met mike peca about 2-3 years ago. I was a cashier at the duty free store on the lewiston-queenston bridge. guy comes thru my line, looks just like Mike peca. one of the things you had to do was ask his last name and origin of his license plate. responds "peca (spells it out too)"... Im being silent the whole time, thinking no no no I wont say anything, then i was like know what? f it, I asked, are you mike peca? At this point I think he could tell I knew, but didnt wanna say anything and he laughed a little and pointed to his brother, who looks exactly like him with lighter hair, and said no... he is, and left haha kinda a jerk move by him but I always laugh about it

I live in rochester and about 6 years ago i went to an amerks game(blue cross arena) and there is a cross walk right infront of the rink and the officer stopped traffic and waved me and a couple buddies across and the car at the stop was pissed and flashed his brights and left them on(right in our eyes). Once we got to the other side I thought what a jerk. I looked into the car to take a look at this clown and it was Lindy(he was there scouting that night)

Was drinking with Enroth on Friday, he was upset that rookie goalies weren't in the rookies challenge as he felt he was a lock to be there then.

Enroth seems like a chill guy to drink with.

Miro and Ingrid lived next door to one of my former co-workers. She used to gush over how he'd go out and play street hockey with them, was always giving away gear to the kids in the neighborhood and how he was "good people" as a neighbor. Good thing everyone hated him out of town.
