Can't blame Seto; I'd be pissed if put in the same situation.

Hopefully he's getting over that initial rejection feeling.

I agree that Seto has been probably depressed a little. I have noticed some small things that would suggest that as well as his comments and his lack of emotion at times.

Can I blame him for being disappointed, no, but I am getting really tired of us making excuses for him, myself included initially.

Bottom line is, he is a professional and needs to act as such. I hope he realizes just how much money he is getting paid to be so. Maybe his potato-farming father will kick his butt a little if he's sulky around their house. He chose to be in the NHL, he certainly chose his multi-million dollar contract. I know it's shocking but this is a business.

I will say that his play has picked up a bit lately; so I hope he is adjusting and finding a certain amount of pride in his new role.

Yeah, its Eklund, but he said the Wild are talking to the Kings.

I initially said, "whatever", but then I starting thinking that something around Zidlicky for Penner would make a lot of sense for both teams. LA could use a offensive Dman, and the Wild could use another forward, especially one that could play center while Koivu is out.

That would be the definition of selling low. Not that it would matter much either way. A guy who's just getting worse and worse and had conditioning issues last year (according to Russo) vs a guy who's gotten worse and worse and had conditioning issues constantly. Neither of them seem like they even give a crap.

I'd probably do it, just to see what happens.

Perhaps we could use Jussi "Juice" Jokinen too, as a breakfast beverage.

Coyle, a goalie, a forward for salary purposes (not sure who though since the most logical, Bouchard and Latendresse, are injury indefinitely), and maybe a defense prospect throw-in like Cuma.
No. No no no. If we offered Coyle up for Carter that would be a catastrophic mistake. Coyle just looks too damned good to be offered for someone like Carter, who has all kinds of mental issues surrounding him.

Where the heck does this "Carter has mental problems" come from? You realize that people have said "Coyle has mental problems" because he left college?

Look, Coyle is a great prospect, but people need some perspective. At this point in his career, his real value is about the same as James Sheppard was a 19-year-old.

Sad, but true.

Im a little confused.. When did Coyle go from a projected "possible second line center" to being are new "Massachusetts Baby jesus"? I was never that high on him in the first place. I dont follow the prospects that closely but is he just something amazing now? When did this happen?

I have no idea what a trade package for Carter would be but I would at least entertain ideas of Charlie Coyle being traded. I wont even try to put together a trade package but I would take carter on the Wild in a heartbeat, especially if we could keep Seto. I know that Seto has been disapointing BUT a top 6 with: Koivu, Granlund, Heater, Carter, Seto & hopefully a PMB or Lats is pretty damn respectable.. ESPECIALLY if we could get Parise & a solid D UFA in the off season. Thats a big what if. But replace PMB or Lats with Parise. and you have one hell of a top 6, a solid batch for 3rd & 4th lines, a little protection from injuries with good fill in's and a team that could & probably would be a top team in the west..

All just my opinion of coarse but if Fletch can pull a Harding + Coyle + ? (something or someone not too terribly valuable) I'd be in!

Plus Id think Carter would take Minnesota over Columbus but who knows..?

I think this needs to be remembered from both sides. Prospects aren't worth much in trades usually, which is why they're not traded very often (except in the usual prospect+ for rental situation). It's often not very productive to trade prospects because of their low relative value.

Again, as I responded the last time it was mentioned, people aren't saying "OMG Coyle so amazing, we no ever trade him." For the most part, people are saying that Fletcher's keen, specific interest in Coyle indicates he's unlikely to trade him. That's a non-judgmental statement, as it says nothing about Coyle's value, just the likelihood of Fletcher taking certain actions.

There are some who value Coyle so highly they wouldn't really consider trading him, but those are generally the people who don't want to trade any of our prospects (except those like Haula, or like Almond).

You can't say what Fletcher is thinking or whether he has any special interest in Coyle.

He traded 1 year of Burns + 2nd for Setoguchi, Coyle, and a 1st. He said he thought Coyle was a good prospect, but not that getting Coyle was such a steal that he's untouchable.

I just think Coyle would be an attractive piece to Columbus, especially if they have those in the organization who are angry about giving up a similiar prospect in Couturier.

cool, thanks for the clarification Squidz. Even tho it's Fletcher now, Im so used to being dispointed in our picks & prospects that Im pretty much willing to trade everyone & anyone for proven players! (Thats why Im not GM tho and that style of GM'ing only works in NHL12)

Also I have no patience, I want to win now! but again I know it doesnt work that way. I really hope Granlund & Coyle are the next superstars of this team but with our cap space & a shot at Parise this off season, I want our team to be a contender sooner rather than later and I want to be attractive to UFA's. I would love if we could get Carter without giving up the farm but that's probably impossible..

Anyone know Carters salary off the top of their head?

I like this quote. Eklund is the best! I bet GMCF has talked to every single GM in the league at least twice in the last week or so.. I wonder what made the Kings stand out as newsworthy..

Isn't Eklunds track record of being correct like 1%? haha

Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Oh & by no means a knock on you for posting it Nickshultzfan! I would have too! I just always laugh when I see an Eklund inside scoop!

Sort of related question...Does Coyle's presence in our pool directly affect whether we try to retain Latendresse or not? I get the feeling Ops expects the same kind of game out of Coyle that they get from a healthy Latendresse. If we sell off Coyle (unlikely I think for the same reasons Squidz brings up) does it make us more likely to throw an offer Lats' way?

Cap geek

it isn't so much the salary as it is the length of contract that every has issues with.

Thanks Rynryn.

He just turned 27 I believe so I guess that would carry him til he's 37.. Well if he likes it here & has success here thats not too horrible but ya, contracts that long are always scary...

Do you know when his NTC ends in there? I dont think it has kicked in yet.. Or does he even have/get a NTC?

(Sorry for all the questions!)

LA's got a healthy scratch(Martinez) that would probably crack our top-4 so I don't think they want our healthy scratch. LA needs forwards, their 1-6/7 D is near the top of the league.
