Considering Garth still hasnt traded one NHL calibre player for another yet, I'm going to say no.

I don't know if there's a GM in the world who'd trade a 21 year old player like Kane, who's won two gold medals, played in the WC, for prospects.

Just for discussion purposes, what do you think it would take to land Kane?

I'm guessing it'll cost something like Hamonic OR Okposo, our 2012 first rounder and a prospect like Niederreiter OR Strome OR deHaan.

Kessel got 2 high first rounders and a second rounder - and he'd fallen out of favour and was being shopped around the league, making $5.4MM for 4 years.

Even Turris brought back Rundblad - and he'd done NOTHING close to what Kane has.

The closest thing the NYI have to Kane is Tavares - but I see Duchene/Skinner in the ball-park of what it would cost to get Kane. And I seriously doubt the NYI have the prospect pool to pull this off, but more importantly, I really doubt Winnipeg will trade a roster player who's as good as Kane without getting at least TWO young roster players, plus a prospect. Makes little sense on their side.

Kane is good and will be getting better -- to the point where he can carry a line on his own similar to Tavares. I'm perfectly fine with pairing them up for times or playing a majority together but Kane is that quality of a player whom like Tavares, makes his linemates better.

I thuink it's stretch that the Avs would move Duchene, who they are making the face of their franchise.Would the Canes move Skinner to land Kane? Both are young stars, but Skinner doesn't have the maturity issues Kanes does.

I posted earlier in the thread that if I were in the Jets front office,I'd ask for Hamonic+one of the young forwards(Grabner/Okposo/Nino).I also posted that if I were in Snow's position,I'd counter with the choice of two deals:

1st and De Haan
2nd+the choice of 1 young forward Grabner/Okposo/Nino

Misunderstanding alert.

I meant Kane's value would be similar to Duchene/Skinner in terms of market value. Not that they'd be available.

I missed that post...Hamonic & Okposo would be an interesting deal, that might get something done, but I'm not sure I'd do it.

I question Kane's hockey sense, similar to KO's hockey sense and I wouldn't give up Hamonic. I'm marvelled at how good Hamonic is. I believe he's the best defenseman on the team and he's got so much untapped potential.

He's right there after Tavares in the untouchables column as far as I'm concerned.

I never like to speculate on trades because they're often silly, especially on the main board, ending in pissing matches by fan bases...but this one's not bad.

I still wouldn't do it NOR do I expect Snow to.

If the asking price is Okposo AND Grabner I'd pass to be honest.
