Confused about all the words in your post being capitalized.

unfortunately we might have to wait until green returns. and that's only if all the other d-men stay healthy. and assuming he does return at some point.

He had been playing fairly well under Hunter/JJ until tonight. But everyone looked like **** tonight.

Kidding. Seriously though, the teams so mentally fragile its beyond belief.. I still think if this team could fire on all cylinders for 3 good games things would change. Something always happens to keep them down in the dumps though it seems. Poor hammer had been improving a bit after being a healthy scratch IMO,
the delay of game must of been depressing, then we got scored on im sure he felt sickat that moment.

As well as the coach and all of the other players...

If it wasn't for the 'fact' that they are finally playing 'the right' way I'd say lets fold the franchise.

Hamrlik took a while to adjust to a new team but he hasn't been any worse than the rest of the team for a while now.

Caps fans are stupid. Don't you know once you make the SCF in your first year and get swept you are GM for life?

As long as there is a Washington Capitals there will be a George McPhee

I still think Hammer will get sorted out.

He was asked to play zone and just like Hannan, struggled. Right when we had enough time to realize he was maybe a bad fit, we fired the coach. And since then have implemented man to man, integrated yet another young kid on D, and still have had inconsistent G play. The defensemen now play different in all 3 zones than just a month ago.

Yet there he is still leading our team in BS. His game didnt drop off the planet, its just times have been a bit turbulent in DC. Its only December after all. It's not his fault we overloaded his TOI, threw 2 different coaches and 2 different systems at him. Green his partner got hurt, and IIRC we were 7-0 with that pairing. He could easily be our most consistent LD come playoff time.

I think the last few games he played good hockey. He was good against the Sabres and Blue Jackets. So I think Hamrlik played bad in the past because he isn't a player who can play in a system like Boudreau's.

The experiment won't end. As a team I think we are blocking more shots, playing stronger overall defensively, the goals against are dropping, and Hammer is right in the middle of it all. Our defense is young and as odd as it seems, needs old blood so the greenhorns can learn, whether they realize it or not. Sure enough the old Hammer was crushing our LDTOI last night.

Since Dale took over: 12GP 3A +7. His BS may be down but only because forwards will be beating him to it.

This is not a Nylander type situation. I can think of worse signings.

i think there is some evidence that hamrlik has been injured for much of the season. i point to his apparant lack of skating and maneuvorability. all of a sudden of recent he is jumping into the play and getting scoring chances and showing more skating aggression.

Smokin last night said that JJ had instructed the Dmen to jump into the play. It may have been just the last few games. Hammer was injured, we know he missed some games. But standing flat footed in the BB/Woods zone just seemed to magnify the worst part of his game, getting up to speed, and stopping to stay in his little box. A vet DD man must have to reprogram the brain to let forwards with the puck go.

Playing man and just getting after guys and not worrying about his little box he had to stay in, seems to have helped him a lot, more than healing may have.

Did he heal all of a sudden when Dale got hired?

May very well be true but I would wager, nope.

So you think ole Hammer was injured to start the year.

We never agree. It's impressive. Orlov was with Green last night - extensively.
Vokoun taking the reigns despite good play from Neuvy. Still thinking Alzner Green won't happen? Last I read Carlson has been on for our last 7GA.

orlov was with green last night. he also hung green out to dry on that breakaway. but....they did play together as he did with 4, 44. they all got shifts with him.

i think its a mistake. you dont. lets leave it at that.

vokoun took the reigns after neuvirth stunk it up and got yanked. just like how neuvirth took the reigns from vokoun.

alzner green? nope. who were the only pair that green didnt play with last night? alzner and carlson.

Hammer Timeline as I Observed

Training Camp: he and Wideman played well together in fact Hamr had about 4 points in about 4 games. Maybe neither was much into Boudreau's system which would make sense.

Games w/ Green: Hammer made some mistakes but I thought was taking shape as the mistakes looked "system" oriented. But I thought he was improving. Like "I gotta think about what to do here" and then was slow to react.

Games w/o Green: anyone remember Hamr getting boarded against the NYI? He finished the game but then was unable to finish another game shortly thereafter. See below.

Enter Hunter: didn't miss a complete game until the second game with Hunter. He played against St. Louis and I thought he was improved and then missed four games.

In summary was something nagging him and either he or the team shut him down for a few games? Whatever the guess I think it's worked and he's improved because he's feeling better AND is a fan of Hunter's system too.

Admittedly I was surprised at the "jump" he had especially against Columbus on the back end of back to back games.

But that group of five (Wides, Hamr, Nick, OV and Semin) seem to have some chemistry going. Some of the passing has been outstanding. Can't leave MJ out either.

What would it take for Chicago to obtain him. Also if we wanted Holtby too what would it take?

Chi fan btw.

If you wanted Holtby you probably would have to overpay. With Washington trading Varly, Holtby and Neuvirth were supposed to be the tandem this year if it wasn't for Vokoun falling in our lap for next to nothing

I know the play you are referring to, and that was all on Green. That was his man and he let him get behind him and didn't intercept the pass.
