UAH to the new WCHA?

HERE is a story that talks about the new WCHA (in 2013-14) possibly looking into get another member to join the conference. One program under consideration is Alabama-Huntsville, currently the only D-I independent.

Thoughts?

I would love to see them get in and save their program. Being in a league like the WCHA,even though it will have a different look in 2 years, would do wonders for that program and maybe just maybe spur more interest in the sport down south.

If the NHL, USA Hockey, and the NCAA are really interested in developing hockey in the south, they will all help and twist arms (perhaps even kick a derriere or two) to make it happen.

That would be great if it happened, especially as just a few months ago the talk around here seemed to be that their hockey program was on the verge of being put down.

Why not?

The biggest hurdle (aside from $$$) that I can with UAH is the travel. Should the new WCHA accept them, they would be the eastern-most team in the league. That's compounded by the fact that the two Alaska teams are already in, so UAH being in the league would make travel even more extensive (and probably expensive) than it already will be.
