It is idol worship to even have the statue there. People stop and look at it, get their pictures taken with it. They may not pray to it but it's the same notion, the same impulse. By having the statue, you are elevating the person to a status that is above human.
This is actually one of the most off-base posts I've ever seen. It's just another way to honour somebody.... it is not worship.
The Ralph Kiner 'statue' looks like a one-off enemy in a Super Mario game.
