Absolutely he should sit out tomorrow. Then rest up over the ASG and hopefully be better soon after.

In what could be viewed as a positive, Burns said he did not feel anything pop in the knee, which is often the case with major tears.

Sometimes you do. I tore my rotator cuff and heard/felt a very audible pop when it happened. It's got to be rare though, as every other time I've sprained or torn a ligament I've heard nothing. What troubles me is that in the replay it looks like his leg catches on the wall as he goes down, and his body turns the other way bending his leg outward at the knee. Hopefully he's okay. Sit him if it's even questionable.

Great news. Todd says injury isn't as bad as they thought. "More charlie horse than knee"

Collective sigh of relief. That injury looked potentially catastrophic.

With the way people were freaking out I was expecting something like:

The San Jose Sharks made a statement today regarding the injury suffered to defensemen Brent Burns during last nights game against the Edmonton Oilers.

"We are sad to announce that the hit suffered by Burns last night completely obliterated his knee. Nothing was left, his leg is now a limp noodle and would have most likely spent the rest of his life in a wheel chair. Would have because sadly during surgery to remove the tiny, tiny grains of what remained of his knee a meteor struck the hospital and Brent Burns was killed... Along with the entire team who was in the waiting room.... and a basket of kittens and puppies that was being delivered to the children's wing... and all the children in the children's wing... and Betty White, who was delivering the basket."

It's really scary though, because of all we've given up to get Burns.

So is this play not reviewable for a suspension? I mean the guy did get a intent to injure penalty. Does the league on care about hits to the head an concussions now?

@agentwright @Burnzie88 Sorry u can't go tonight and play your 500 career gm. Happy to hear from u its not a serious knee injury as it looked initially.

I'm just gonna go ahead and totally read into this, since it's always good to get the info from the player, that Burns called his agent to tell him the injury is not too bad.

Espcially since orgs like to beat around the bush on these things.

He didn't get an intent to injure, Randy misspoke. He got a 5 minute major which comes with a match penalty.

It's not suspension worthy. Hemsky didn't do it on purpose, and he's not a dirty player.

Its reviewable. If they do, I doubt he's given a suspension.

Can we change it to 'Thank Couture' now that TM has compared Couture to Toews?

Minor update....
Quote:
Burns also stopped by the press box during the Sharks' 1-0 win over the Flames on Tuesday night. He was in an upbeat mood, joking that the game is "much easier from up here," and mentioning that he was "just glad it wasn't his knee." Burns said he was looking forward to vacationing with his wife in Hawaii for the All-Star break - another good sign that the injury is not serious.
