This really doesn't matter unless he received two new legs for Christmas.
Rishaug was talking about Whitney and I don't think we can expect much. Pretty much at this point hope for him to make an impact on the bottom pairing at best.
The minutes were distributed more liberally to the third and fourth lines last night. A few more changes here and there, a few wins and we could finish the year with a bang not a wimper.
Maybe the Hall outburst will be known as the event that kickstarted the new Oilers dynasty?

One can only hope that they have enough pride to wanna lift themselves up out of the basement.
If this was the game immediately after the catastrophe against Calgary, we'd have a shot of winning in the same vane as how we won't against SJ (half decent performance coupled with opposition hoping/expecting an easy one).
But Renney has spent the rebound game, and the players will immediately begin cutting corners again. Vancouver being somewhat of rivals are also a lot less likely to sleep through it.
4-0 Vancouver. Offense continues to be an issue.
I don't think so, I think they'll put in the effort. I'm just not sure if they'll get the win. They had a bag skate Sunday and I doubt any of them want to do that again, it also shows that at least the coach wants them trying to win every game.
I know. First game back from an injury where it is not close to 100% healed. Whitney is going to be in lots of trouble defensively tonight against a team like the Canucks.
I've listened to Whitney's interview with Stauffer, he even admitted that he is only going to have to manage playing at only 80-85% healthy for the rest of this year.
A fwd may be manageable at 80% healthy because you get to choose where to go or turn which allow you to have some leeway on a foot problem. With d man, you are dictated by where the attackers go and then react. Tough to manage that when defending.
Shut Whitney down for the year. The last thing we need is him dressing and then having to get his feet amputated because he made a sharp turn on a routine play.

I don't know, is Whitney in the future plans of the Oilers, if not he might play well enough to draw some interest to be traded. Face it's like getting blood out of a stone with the Oilers about the injuries of the players, time will tell if he can play or not.
I still don't understand the return date for Whitney, the only way I can make sense of it:
Whitney tries it out tonight, if he can't do it he is shut down for the remainder of the year and he goes on his soul searching hiatus to figure out his ankle injury in the depths of the amazon.
Otherwise he tries it out tonight and if he's able to do it he stays the rest of the season and the positive of this is that it will keep some of the younger guys in the minors and let them develop(ie. Teubert and Petry).
The Oilers have no shot tonight unless they get outwordly goaltending. The Canucks always dominate the Oilers in Vancouver (not including the flukey win late last season) even when the Oilers are healthy so i can't imagine the carnage that will be left of the Oilers tonight. I'll say 6-1 Canucks with the Twin Sisters getting 4 pts each.

I just see it as something that hasn't gotten better by waiting so he is going to try play through it. I have to think the next step to fix this is issue is something that once again shuts him down for 5-6 months.
Still won't be shocked if he retires at season end or takes his cash one more year and retires.
