San Jose will loan veteran goalie Antero Niittymaki to the Syracuse Crunch. Presumably for rest of season, unless there is a trade.
Lol, he will just be opening the door there too. With Ellis injured, Deslauriers/Tarkki are both alternating that who gets to open the door for the Ducks. I doubt Niitty sees playing time over one of those two.

Syracuse (or more like Ducks?) probably pays a few k of his salary, we will pay the rest.
I have to think there is a deal for him to get playing time there. The goal still has to be to get a trade done, so they need him to play. We just cannot afford to showcase him in the NHL or AHL ourselves. Hopefully before the deadline he gets a few games in and someone desperate takes a chance on him.
And Syracuse didn't even include Niittymaki in their clear day roster.
They added a goalie that might be able to come back and play (Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers)...the Crunch put their list together correctly. Niitty is eligible to play as long as one one of the two goalies on that list isn't available.
