Booth+pick for first plus grabs

Ballard for Sammy and sturm

That is how i want to see that line play. Burn into the zone, take a shot and get to the rebounds faster than the D. A line that can score those really puts pressure on the other teams Din a way our other lines can't.

Booth is awesome. The way he's playing now, you can see why he was somewhat of a fan favourite in Florida. He's fun to watch because of his speed, strength, work ethic and willingness to just take the puck straight to the net, and he's got that great personality to go along with it. Just an amazing guy to have on the team. I hadn't seen a whole lot of him before we traded for him... I knew he could play a speed game and was strong on the puck but I didn't know he could play that power forward game so well too. I'm pretty excited about what the Amex line will be able to do in the playoffs if they can stay healthy.

He still doesn't always move the puck the way you'd like him to - for example last game there was a play where he had the puck at center and Higgins was ahead of him on the left wing, in perfect position to receive a pass at the blueline with speed. Booth didn't see that though and held onto the puck, so Higgins had to stop and wait while Booth carried it in himself and he had nowhere to go.

He is getting better at using the other guys on the ice though and he seems to be improving his play without the puck. It was never a lack of hustle or commitment (or conditioning, which some people kept suggesting ), just a lack of understanding where to go and what to do.

I remember how I first heard about the trade - saw someone tweet something like "Canucks trade Sturm and Samuelsson for David Booth." After all the talk going back to last year about Booth being a guy we should target for the top 6, and then all the hand wringing early this season about Sturm and Samuelsson and how if only we could get rid of them... I honestly just assumed it was someone messing around and kinda went "haha, yeah, if only eh?" When I came here and saw it was real I almost fell off my chair. We did lose a good player in Samuelsson, and our ownership has to eat Reinprecht's salary but I think this was an awesome trade no matter how you look at it.

It's like how Leafs fans look at the Kessel and Kaberle trades.

Mike Gillis commented on the conditioning. He said Booth was working too hard off the ice and not leaving enough for the games when he got here. They've been working with him ever since to find the right balance.

I always thought that it was an issue with Florida players that they weren't in good enough shape due to lack of work ethic (though Dineen has pretty much changed that culture). I always figured Booth was a health and gym nut for some reason, this pretty much confirms that.

Booth and Kesler along with higgins like to go to the net? right? maybe they should be called the crash line instead.....

I think Booth has better hands than Raymond and more physical

Last PO only four forwards scored more than 5 goals. That is a STUNNING stat considering how far Nucks went.

The real test is how many goals and how effective Botth will be in the POs.

Why hasn't it happened yet?

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
Higgins - Kesler - Booth
Raymond - Hodgson - Hansen
Malhotra - Lapierre - Weise
Because Henrik is in his worst slump in years and Kesler is still half stuck in offensive black hole mode.

Henrik needs to ge tback to that 95-100 point pace and Kesler needs to get ba ck to being a 70 point guy.

Higgins is also ice cold lately. No goals in 13 games. Infection seems to have hit him hard.

Just try to be ready for the playoffs, it's the only thing to do.

Hopefully this season the scoring and PP can pick up going into the playoffs, instead of dropping off a cliff.

Happy at the time and even happier now that we've had a better look at what Booth brings to the table.

Even though the two are unrelated, it feels as though this mitigates the Ballard acquisition.

Article from Ben Kuzma about how Booth hit Whistler for some snowshoeing over the break while staying off skates.
“I go on my own and follow my tracks up and back,” Booth said Monday of his snow expeditions. “I’ve always enjoyed hiking and have always enjoyed the view from the top of the mountain. It’s fun to hike with snow up to your knees and I enjoy that kind of stuff. You can feel the wind cruising by and you just kind of hunker down low. It’s tough work but it keeps me in shape, too.”

How does Doug Maclean get away with some of the retarded **** he says on the air? Booth has been a disapointment here? Maybe in his first week, but he's been awesome - we all know.

Another interesting bit from the article:
Quote:
Booth actually stayed off the ice during the break, which is a story on its own. Then again, he managed to hit the gym, do some biking and take in a spinning class. Encouraged to tone down his fitness regimen after being acquired from the Panthers on Oct. 22
You definitely don't hear that too often. It's like the complete opposite to the Wellwood/Wellfed situation. I guess over working yourself has its disadvantages too.

****, isn't this how a lot of people go missing in Whistler, and even in the North Shore mountains? Solo hiking, get caught in a storm....missing. Someone tell Booth that this isn't MInnesota, and when a storm blows up on you, things can go from bad to worse quickly.

I would hope he also has a map, etc and told someone where he's going. PLB's are cheap now too. I can't blame him for wanting to go solo (I certainly have myself). He better be doing more than just tracing back steps in the snow though.

Doug Maclean is a 'character' much like Donald S. Cherry...they aren't there for knowledge, they are there strictly for entertainment.

I actually like Maclean for what he is, an entertainer.

I don't, because in both cases they believe that they are there for knowledge.
