Ryane Clowe, Douglas Murray, 1st 2012

for

JVR, Wayne Simmonds

Salary is a wash. How is value? Who would need to add?

I don't like it at all. All we need to do is trade a 2nd rounder or two for a guy like Gleason or Babchuk, not dismantle our young forward corps.

San Jose trades two core players and their pick which they need to get a good prospect.

Philadelphia trades two young players who could turn out big.

No teams makes this deal.

Salaries aren't quite a wash but I can't see San Jose doing this deal. I'd love to have Murray tho.

Are there any top 9 forwards that Philadelphia would be willing to unload for a defenseman?

I would, we can't afford either player after their contracts end anyway after next season.

If we can find a different piece to Simmonds I'm in. Love Simmonds on the Flyers.

Don't know who though, lol

If they are serious about bring Jagr back for another year then may be Voracek. Not that he hasn't been awesome but how much can they afford to pay a guy to be a 3rd liner?

Voracek for Murray?

It depends on the defenseman. But I would put JVR at the top of the list. But as I have stated before. I would rather just tinker with the line up. Unless it is for one of the big two out of Nashville.

I would definitely consider a deal around these two. Not sure who has to add.

Me neither. I am not sure of Murray's age or contract. Voracek is a very good two way player that should get top 6 minutes but I can't see him playing on the wing over a healthy JVR, Hartnell, a healthy Jagr, or a healthy Briere. I would rather keep Voracek and not resign Jagr at age 40.

One of the reasons I think Flyers fans are comfortable with JVR, besides needing a good dman, are to get bigger and tougher in their top-9. For that reason, Clowe is good, but moving Simmonds as a part of the deal would not be.

My personal view is that Flyers have a big big need on defense, so if they are going to trade someone with as much value as JVR it really ought to be for a top-notch dman.

I think they need to lock up Simmonds with Hartnell being a UFA after next season. Simmonds is their only other PF.

I would be happy to make the deal "smaller" if Flyer fans prefer. i.e. something around Murray for Voracek or Read. What is Matt Read's status?

Not untouchable but such a cheap contract for what he brings to the table.

Murray's 31 and has 1 more year at $2.5m. He's fantastic as a #5 - one of the best hitting defensive dmen.

I would take that in a second. That's an overpayment by Philly though.

I'd be all over original proposal. Murray is solid and what the Flyers need. Clowe is a great peice and would love to have him in O&B and next years 1st? It's a no brainer for me

Gotta give to get I think htat makes us a better team now and helps us in the future as well

I like a smaller deal of Murray + for Voracek. Simmonds for Clowe is a wash talent wise pretty much except clowe is older and more expensive.

I'd rather keep Clowe if the deal doesn't necessitate him. Murray for Voracek, make it happen DW.

Kudo's to the OP . This is a good proposal and one that helps both teams.I really believe that the Flyers need to add a draft pick too. Say a 3rd
Personal i'm not sure which Dual is better.
