I get the impression that people are really focusing on physicality. That's fine and all, and this team does need to start drafting more toughness, but if there is a player who's smaller, more skilled, and projects to have a better career, he's the one I want over the more physical guy. All things being more or less equal though, ya take the big guy.
My friend is cousins with luke stutter, we always see him when he's in town! I would Be stoked if he was drafted by us! But I think he will go earlier, he's having a very solid year, leads his team in pims too haha. But he hates Ryan Nugent Hopkins, says he can't stand the kid, but he's high on Eberle

I did a three round mock a couple of weeks back using the standings then and not using the deals. Here were my results for the Oil:
1. (2) Mikhail Grigorenko - Big and strong on the puck.
1. (18) LA had this pick in my mock and I had them drafting Daniil Zharkov from Belleville. I believe if the Oilers had this pick they would have taken Derrick Pouliot who I still had on my board.
2. (32) Jordan Schmaltz - another defender to add to the gene pool. He's an American which seems to be something the Oil covet.
3. (62) Calle Andersson - if they have the second first round pick and go D-D they may draft a forward or goalie here, but I like this value.
3. (78) Daniel Rzavsky - forward from the Czech Republic.
That's as far as I got thus far. I will be doing a seven round mock again before the draft, and I nailed the Oilers first two picks last year. I guess we'll see how this year goes.
A few comments from other people's mocks. I can't see Henrik Samuelsson falling past the middle of the second round now that he is showing he can handle the WHL. He'll likely even be a mid-first rounder by the time the draft rolls around if he keeps up his play in the WHL.
I really feel there will be great value for defensmen late in the first round and early in the second round because there are so many rated highly. I think forwards such as Martin Frk, Tomas Hertl, Daniil Zharkov, Teuvo Teravianen and Phil di Giuseppe will be mid-first rounders based on teams who are looking for forwards passing up on better defenders based on need. I don't advocate drafting based on need, but there is no doubt that teams do it. At this point in time I have Derrick Pouliot, Olli Maatta and Slater Koekkoek dropping into the 20's for this reason.
I doubt Hemsky nets 1st. Certainly not Smyth at this stage of his career. But if it were to happen, the Oilers should take Grigorenko with the 1st pick and the best d-man available with a 2nd pick.
RNH-Eberle
Hall-Grigorenko
will form the grid for 2 excellent lines. Depending on the situation, one can rotate in Smyth, Paajarvi, Gagner, JOnes, Omark, Hartikainen, Pitlick etc.
No. Lazar has been playing wing and Maxwell and St. Croix play on a line together. He has been playing center. Ive been going to the games.
Which is why I phrased it as a question. I only listen to bits of the games when I get a chance. When Laxdal was on with Stauffer IIRC he said they had a tonne of C depth and might try some things. I was given the impression that they had broken that line up a couple of weeks ago when I had a chance to listen to a period and a bit.
1(2)-Grigorenko- even if we keep gagner, grigorenko plays a strong wing game
1(18)-Galchenyuk- we have enough forwards to take a gamble on a high risk/high reward prospect
2(32)-Frk- i thought he would get bigger, but this kid was on my radar 3 years ago
i know people figure we need defense, i have faith in davidson, marincin, and gernat
murray is a close second with the first pick, i like griffin reinhart if we could steal him with the second-first round pick. still need a 1st string tender in the system, bunz is smallish too.

There is ZERO chance Galchenyuk drops to 18. He's probably a bit like Connolly, where a team might still take a chance on him early. Even if they don't I'd be very surprised if he falls to 7-8.

And isn't Bunz 6'2"?
hockeydb has bunz at a generous 6'1", not bad but looked small in the world juniors... edit, had him confused with olivier roy
ISS has Galchenyuk at 31 overall at the halfway mark, could be next years tyler pitlick

this is the thing....i wish the Oilers could get another 2nd rounder and bite the bullet and take one of the better goalie prospects instead of always passing them by, then taking lesser prospects farther down the draft. i'd like to see them snag one of either Andrei Vasilevski, Oscar Dansk or Malcom Subban.

Not a chance he falls that far, if he's anywhere passed 10th overall I'll be shocked and upset if Tambellini doesn't do everything he can to move up and snag him
1 (2) Mikail Grigorenko - C - Quebec
Im not sure if the Russian factor comes into play or not bit Grigerenko would be an awesome #2 center for many years to come. I would be happy with any of Yakupov, Grigerenko, Murray or Dumba here.
1 (18) Cody Ceci - D - Ottawa
For whatever reason Craig has him rated 19 at the last ranking. If he is still around it would be a no brainer. Hes a big guy that brings a lot of offence while having a good +/-. Ceci could be the best defencemen in the draft and available later. If Ceci isn't available I would hope that we could land one of Pouliot, Koekkoek, or Lindholm here.
2 (32) Stefan Matteau- LW - USNTDP
Big winger that can score and make plays. Has a lot of grit to his game and would help round out our top 9. I could also see us adding Jarod Maidens or Colton Sissons at this point to help provide some toughness into the lineup. If Matheson or Schmaltz are sticking around they would be a great pickup here.
3 (62) Dylan Blujus - D - Brampton Batallion
Big defenceman that is leading his defence in points with 28 in 46 games played. Thats 15 more points than any other defenceman and 16 points behind the leading goal scorer. I could see him being a second round pick.
3 (79) Raphael Bussieres - LW - Baie-Comeau
A sleeper forward with more skill then his numbers suggest. He is a good skater with sick hands and could be a very good two-way forward at the NHL level. If he is not around I would like to see Kevin Roy from the USHL. Small but highly skilled and leading his respective league.
4 (92) Patrik Bartosak - G - Red Deer Rebels
Love this guys style and could see him being a sleeper at the goaltending position.
5 (122) Brett Kulak - D- Vancouver Giants
Leads his team in +/- and still a project at this point. Wouldn't be surprised if he is taken in the third round.

You're probably thinking of CSS who has him listed as LV(limited viewings) at the end of the 1st. LV is for unranked players. He was just put there for obvious reasons.
He'll be back for a handful of games, the play-offs and the Ivan Hlinka tourney.
