Georges Laraque's interview was epic

Today with Stauffer, Laraque was the voice of the unhappy Oilers fan. He doesn't understand the Oilers' organization and their decision making. He had a lot of good points. He was critical of the assistant coaches, the management, the drafting, the defence and too many of the same type of smallish, skilled forwards. His Oilers comments are about half-way thru the interview.

Honestly, I have a hard time convincing myself that his opinion should matter to me in the least.

In his defense, he seems more sensible than anyone in our organization

That's great if you believe he's right. I just don't see why anyone would care what he says, or what makes his opinion more interesting than any of ours.

That isn't saying much for either side.

What some gentleman goon says means little to me.

When someone of importance starts critiquing the organization, maybe the higher ups will listen.

Your tone makes me believe that you somehow want to defend the condition of the franchise.

I'd love to see Lowe back behind the bench next year.

Then you're misunderstanding it, but it's not a big deal.

Shouldn't Georges be politely requesting the organization's permission before criticizing it?

Because he's actually a pretty smart guy, and had a long career in the NHL

Not only that, he has played for the current gm and POHO, as well as other coaches throughout the league.

He has a unique perspective that is relevant.

Exactamundo. I'm a little surprised at some of the posts here, I thought BGL was a favourite around these parts.

Well, we've had Ferraro, Trotz and of course, the majority of us, so I'll give Laraque his props.

Actually lol'ed when Stauffer replied to George calling out the old boys club by pointing out Howson is not part of that troupe.
George hit the nail on the head with that.
Maybe some posters should actually give it a listen before discrediting his opinion...

Thanks for the heads-up OP. Just one of the many reasons I love Georges. Guy tells it like it is.

I could almost hear Bob sweating. haha

Love what he was bringing. Stauffer was in full damage control.

I am starting to get so sick of Stauffer defending every facet of the Oilers organization.

Coaching staff? No turnover in assistants in half a decade and dismal performances.

Stauffer's solution? Don't fire anyone, just hire someone else.

What a joke. So you are working for the organization, of course you aren't going to call for someone's head.

He is a shadow of what he was on his old show when he was actually holding the organization accountable. Disappointing.

What a breath of fresh air that George is.

I love how Stauffer cut him off ... "George we have to do this again" ... yeah like that's gonna happen any time soon.

I can't stand it when former players think they have a the solutions for management. Maybe he should stick to what he does best- playing. Oh wait, I forgot he can't.

The guy has nothing better to do then bash the same organization that gave him his career. What an unappreciative joke. I guess Laraque has always been more concerned with being a celebrity more than playing the game.
