I guess, though the same questions can be applied to Toronto (8), Nashville (7), Washington (10), New Jersey (11), Rangers (12), and several others. Granted, i would have NJ ahead of us as Lou does a good job overall. His cap maangement though at times has been horrible.

I'm not really arguing we should be further up the list, but some of those teams are all over the place. And how Toronto is ahead of Chicago is beyond me.

How Toronto is ahead of anyone is a head scratcher. They haven't won a cup in 44 years ?

Haven't made the playoff's since the Lockout ? (Bubble team right now).

I think the article was based on the abilities of the GM and Coach, not how they have done together this season. Burke gets high marks for building Vancouver and finishing Anaheim and winning a cup.

Lombardi is ranked low because he hasn't done ANYTHING in the playoffs his entire GM career. He has built some solid foundations, but hasn't taken the next step. I think the Kings are little bit low at 19 though.

Who would you not take that is ahead of Lombardi and/or Sutter on the list?

Personally, I would put them ahead of NJ, Buffalo and Tampa Bay. I think Lou is past his prime and he has struggled since the lockout. Buffalo has been average when they couldn't spend money and are terrible as a cap team. Tampa Bay was already a strong team and Yzerman hasn't done anything to shore up their weaknesses.

I would have the Lombardi/Sutter group at 16th. A bubble playoff team with potential.

Of the top of my head, I'd also add NYR.

Yeah Torts has a cup and so does Sather, but what have Sather teams done since 1990? The Rangers haven't done much of anything since 1997 despite huge payrolls at times. Since the lockout Sather is responsible for some of the worst contracts in the game (Drury, Redden and Gomez). And who can forget the pre-lockouts great contracts like Fluery, Holik and Darius Kasparitus.

How Sather still gets credit for what he did 25 years ago is beyond me. He's been a sub-par GM for two decades and he still gets carte blanche.
