Rangers / Sharks / Bruins / Wings after Selanne

http://www.lfpress.com/sports/hockey.../19276801.html

Don't know how legit is it, but apparently four NHL teams have asked after Selanne. While Murray maintains that Selanne will finish his career in Anaheim, Teemu hasn't denied anything yet.

I doubt anything will happen if Ducks hot streak continues, but out of the four I'd see SJ being the most likely location, since he'd still get to be close to his family and he's played already there previously. But any of the four are legitimate contenders.

Would your team have a spot for him?

Well sadly I don't own the Wings so they aren't my team but seriously

I would say DRW has a very slim chance of getting this guy. He hates Kronnwall(ed), was part of our great rivalry and would be hours away from his family.

That said I think Sharks are the frontrunners.

I think both the Ducks and Selanne want him to end it in Anaheim, but if they are out of the playoffs Selanne will ask for one more shot at the cup.

Who knows though, if the Ducks continue this crazy tear, they might end up in. They'd have to win something like 26/34 though...

San Jose is the only one that makes sense to me.

Would love to add him to the Rangers for their run. I know he is a RW, but has he played on the left side on the PP at all?

Also, anyone know how legit this source is?

As much as I'd love to see Selanne finish his career in Anaheim... I think Anaheim would be missing an opportunity by not considering offers.

To be it seems as if SJ is the most likely place for him to land, IMO.

Rangers need some additional secondary scoring, some one to help on the PP, and a face off specialist.

If the Rangers could add Selanne and Gaustad I think they would be set for a strong playoff run, may be add a vet Dman if Sauer is out for a longer period of time. According to cap geek the Rangers will have around $5 million in cap space to work with.

Trading or waiving Wolski and Christiansen will add almost another $5 million in full season cap space.

Somehow it would really piss me off if Teemu went to SJ and won them a cup.

Sharks after Selanne? Intriguing, but highly unlikely, being divisional rivals and all that jazz. Plus, with our cupboard being bare, I don't know how or what we have to give.

I don't think the divisional rivals factors much at all. If the Ducks are trading him, it means they're out of the playoffs (or don't think they have a shot) so they might as well get picks/prospects for their players. And there's precedent here with the Huskins/Moen trade.

can he play LW? We don't have any more room for a top 6 RW with Gaborik and Callahan. Although I guess Callahan can play LW if he really has to...

Wouldn't mind seeing him go to the Sharks though.

Ahh yeah, those. 2 questions though.
Your question: What do the Ducks want?
My question: What do we have that we can give?

Why do you guys assume the Sharks are the favorites to get him back?

1) What do we have to offer that both Anaheim would take and we would give for Selanne as a rental?

2) Selanne doesn't really PK - does he? We need a lot of help there, so he probably shouldn't be our top priority. Am I wrong here?

3) He is a top-6 forward, no doubt, but I am not sure how popular he is in SJ anymore. Do we want him back all that much for what we have to give up Sharks fans?

Something to consider in my opinion :-)

For him, I'd give (at most) (VAN's) 2nd and a mid-level dman (Irwin).

Or Torts could roll 4 lines with scoring threats on three.

Anisimov - Stepan - Gaborik
Hagelin - Richards - Selanne
Dubinsky - Gaustad - Callahan
Feds - Boyle - Prust
Rupp

Had PP units of:

Selanne - Richards - Gaborik

And

Hagelin - Stepan - Callahan

Can substitute Dubinsky or Anisimov for Hagelin if you wanted to.

This is ofcoarse under the assumption Rangers add Gaustad too.

If I wanted Teemu to get traded from Anaheim, the only place I wanna see him is in Winnipeg. Get it done Cheveldae.

Ruutu makes more sense for the Rangers. They have solid RWers, they need a natural left side guy

Yeah it'd be nice for him to go back to where it started, but to if Winnipeg is not in it then I'd like him to at least have a shot at the cup again.

No, Selanne and defensive responsibility don't really go well together.
