Nah, I've been out of school for about 5 years now.
Did anyone ever buy the new Slash CD that came out a few months ago? I heard the one single released to the radio stations, and it was ****ing awesome... but forgot to get the CD when it was eventually released.
Genres I listen to: Little bit of everything.
Favorite genre: Not sure.
Five favorite artists/bands/groups: Michael Jackson, Gorillaz, Drake, MGMT and Alice In Chains and a lot of others.
Favorite song: Not sure.
Favorite song to get pumped up to: Brand New Colony - The Postal Service
Best concert to see: Linkin Park always puts on good ones. Saw them a couple years ago.
Genres I despise: Country, Crappy pop music.
Arists/bands/groups I despise: Justin Bieber and really any teen musician.
Songs I despise: Same as above.
I'm kicking myself that I didn't get tickets to the Gorillaz tour as it will likely never happen again. I saw a replay of a concert on Paladia and the string arrangement for Empire Ants was amazing. I didn't think it was possible but I think they were better live than in studio. And that is saying something.
My favorite bands the last few years, from a complete album perspective, have been Phoenix, Two Door Cinema Club (Beacon is disappointing but Tourist History was an awesome debut), Young the Giant, and Cut Copy. The latter of the bands has put out two magnificent albums that are solid from start to finish. If you like any kind of danceable/electronic music with guitars then you'll like this band.
For contemporary music I prefer alternative (a lot of stuff not played on radio), and subterranean/dance alternative and house. Overall I love 80s/new wave (not the Living on a Prayer or Don't Stop Believin BS always played in bars), 90s alternative, classic rock, RandB, world music (roommate is Bulgarian and I like some of the chalga music), jazz, and some classical. I can't stand country, unless it's old school like Johnny Cash, and I despise most rap (most of it is blatant rip offs). I like Motley Crue but think the hair metal genre sucks. Only so long you can listen to bands that sing like they just got kicked in the nads. If only more of them sounded like the Cult.
Here's another person/group I've been into lately. Her delivery and beats are very unique. I'd love to see her love the next time she comes around (Tune Yards):
