I think its because Queen didn't want to face him in the ASG (keep him on his side), if only for one game. Big sign of respect from Queen.

He is going to be in the breakaway challenge.

Could show some serious skills here and surprise some people.

The teams are pretty cool because the Senators, Canucks and Swedes are all together with a few extras while the Bruins and Toronto and Eastern Europeans are kind of all together.

Me personally, I think JT is going to be a BEAST at this game. I wouldn't even be surprised if he ends up being the games un-quiet MVP.
Not to burst bubbles but he will not get the ice time to be the MVP.
I still think he will have a good showing. I'll be rooting for Team Sweden lol.

I hope they put him in the passing accuracy event, his soft saucers will be magic. But, looks like he's doing some breakaways, ugh, just his forte.

He might not do so well in the elimination shootout but, he is also doing the breakaway challenge where you can show off your skills. The shootout rules don't apply. I think he will have some tricks up his sleeve.

Hm, THAT would be interesting; with his soft hands, and some time to work with, wonder what he may have up his sleeve.

Yeah, he said in one of his interviews that he would give Schremp a call. He might have some cool ideas. I'd like to see him do a Ryan Strome type of move going through the legs.

I could see him do a variation of that move where he pushes the puck from his stick, to his skate, and back.

he'll also be doing the left handed one timers. WTF, he's pretty awful at one timers. It makes no damn sense cause he has such great hands, but out of the dozens and dozens of one timers he's attempted, maybe he's actually gotten the shot off on 10 of them.

I can't understand why he's so bad at them. i thought that was like a huge part of his offense in juniors. oh well.

JT is just such a serious kid....serious on the ice and serious during his inteviews and public statements. You could almost forget he is a 21 year old kid until you see him kind of off camera laughing and kidding with some of his teammates and the kids he played with and grew up with in juniors who made it to the show.
Then you get to see the outgoing, good natured kid who isnt hung up on who he is and how great or important he is. He seems to have it all in perspective, the right amount of self assurance, the lack of pomposity and arrogannt cockiness.
A fire burns within Tavares to be elite, to become the best that he can be, and maybe the best in the game if he can get there through constant improvement, hard work, whatever it takes.

Personally, I really like his personna.......the quiet, confident gunslinger, not the loud, showy wise-guy. JT is for the long term, not a comet who will flare and burn out early.
If there is one player who can lift this team to the level of playoff team/playoff contender, it is John Tavares. He just needs some time and some help from his organization.

Offseason Work Helped Tavares Become an Allstar

Quote:
"He's picked up a step," Toronto defenseman Dion Phaneuf said at Media Day prior to the 2012 Tim Hortons NHL All-Star Game. "Playing that back-to-back against him (Monday and Tuesday before the All-Star break), you can see his game is at a different level. He's definitely picked up a step, and he's making some unbelievable plays."
Eventhough Phaneuf is a giant tool, it's nice to hear him give JT praise. I still can't believe that JT has improved his skating so dramatically. I'd even go as far to say that he has fast breakaway speed now. It's truly remarkable.

If he improves on his shot the way he did his skating he will honastly be top 5 best player in the game......

This is why he will be the next Captain...He hates losing.....Games faceoffs breakaways anything it doesnt matter.....If he does not sucseed he gets angry he feels he should be the best and play perfect....I love that about him

Any idea what # JT will wear tomorrow? I assume Stamkos will have 91 as he has more seniority. He can't wear 19 because of Hartnall.

Would be cool if Bossy called him up and told him to wear #22 or something.

He wore 61 at one point in junior-- can't think of another All Star wearing that number

I think they share the numbers. It's an All Star Game, so it's no big deal.
