Would you walk away?

He said at the beginning of the year that he would. I don't think Worcester's given him a reason no to.

It's all about perception...SJ needs to at least pretend to care what happens here. All they have to do is sign a couple stiffs to ATOs to finish the year out so we have something that looks like a "correct" roster on paper. Doing that for a weekend costs them virtually nothing...but their track record on doing things that cost them "virtually nothing" is not very good.

Jay Silvia out of Holy Cross has been signed to an ATO so the answer to your question is Yes.

That is exactly was I was hoping for. Sign a kid with local connections to play out the rest of the season.

Sweet. According to the AHL transactions page there's also a guy named Bobby Farmham who was signed to an ATO.

Does that give Worcester enough forwards?

Petrecki wins Yanick Dupré Award

Cobgrats to Nick - he earned it!

http://theahl.com/petrecki-wins-yani...-award-p177074

The American Hockey League has announced that defenseman Nick Petrecki of the Worcester Sharks has been selected the winner of the Yanick Dupré Memorial Award as the 2011-12 IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year.

The award is presented annually to an AHL player for his outstanding contributions to his local community and charitable organizations. The Yanick Dupré Memorial Award winner is selected by the AHL from among 30 individual team Man of the Year honorees.

People might laugh at this, but I don't even care if these kids are any good. This gives the WorSharks 11 healthy forwards, and with O'Hanley playing up front (as when Pelech did it, O'Hanley playing forward doesn't bother me in the least because they both bring a skill set that works pretty well at forward) we now have what looks to be a "correct" team.

I have to think these two transactions were driven by the WorSharks front office here...those guys are busting arse trying to sell tickets for next season and playing short (or with 8 defensemen) puts them in a bad spot.

This is the exact reason Speed, I, and many others here support the WorSharks organization...their commitment to our community.

Because of guys like Petrecki, Mike Moore, and many others over the years the WorSharks can do over 350 community appearances each season at schools, hospitals, and charity functions.

As he should Nick deserves the credit for getting out there in the community and doing all this - he worked hard and enjoyed it all. But also huge kudos to the Worcester Sharks office to make Nick's recognition possible. Over the years Mike Myers has built a huge community network and he, Mike Mudd and office should be very proud of what they've done in Worcester.

I am a bit curious. What's your guy's gripes with Doherty?

I don't see how he can't make it to the NHL if he works on his skating. He certainly can be more successful then Douglas Murray. Its not like Doherty could be worse if given the same development route.

I am not as down on him as others although he is no where near NHL ready. I liked his pinches and work down low offensively....similar to Braun there. I think he is a decent skater. His issue is strength. Gets beat all the time in every area of the defensive zone by guys much smaller than he is....

Believe concussion. He was out for awhile with one...came back for a couple games and has been out again the past couple weeks. I dont think he is even in Worcester right now.

He's slow, out of position, can't shoot, can't pass, doesn't hit. Makes wrong moves in his end. His only asset with his size is that he angles bodies out of the way.

He has lost neary every one on one battle he's been in this year. He can't skate backwards. He has next to no lateral movement.

Friday's loss to St John's is Roy Sommer's 513th, placing him at #1 in head coaching losses in AHL history. His record is currently 508-513-93

It's inexcusable that it took San Jose 24 hours to post that story.

Murray wrecks people and intimidates them.

Doherty.....not so much. Even in Jr he was railed on for not using his size to at least play something that resembles a physical game.
