Let's put it this way... My girlfriend would get 2-3 calls a week from the Worcester Sharks about tickets.

Also, another team in the league has each employee make 500 calls a week. (which they get by how 210 said)

The WorSharks are great at doing that...you could literally spend an hour filling out "enter to win" forms for different stuff all around the DCU center concourse, and every single one ends up in the hands of the ticket sales people.

Now this jersey,Flying Hellfish, classic

My teammate Jerry plays for the Flying Hellfish in San Jose! Any connection there?

The heck?

I used to live next door to Jose Canseco, he lived in the house directly below mine (my house overlooked his). Now, this is coming from a guy who has met an absurd amount of celebrities in his time, he is absolutely the biggest jack-ass I have ever met. The guy actually threatened to kill my dog on multiple occasions (I was like 12 at the time keep in mind...). He used to come home at 1am in the morning, probably drunk, and honk his horn as pulled in to let the neighborhood know he was home. Total waste of oxygen.

Oddly enough we also lived a block down the street from Jason Kidd at that house, and Mark McGuire lived on the other side of the development. Not sure why so many sports stars lived there.

That Hellfish jersey is incredible. I'm a huge sucker for Simpsons references.

The only way that could happen (so, yeah, I'm saying there is a chance ) is if three or four other teams moved to within bus distance to wherever the Sharks put their affiliate. One of the reasons the Sharks love developing their players here is last season the WorSharks spent nine nights in hotel rooms, with most of those taking place in St. John's, Newfoundland. Some of the western teams in the AHL spent upwards of 30 or more night on the road, meaning the WorSharks prospects got a minimum of 20 more days of practice and development vs the prospects on some of those other teams.

Another positive is Worcester is within 90 minutes of four airports that can easily get recalled players from New England to every single NHL city (excepting Vancouver). Teams play half their games on the road, so the ability to get players to other NHL cities is just as important (if not more) as being able to get them to the home city.

Now SJ could decide to have an outlier AHL franchise like Calgary (Abbotsford, British Columbia) or Winnipeg (St. John's, Newfoundland) do, but each of those teams has to pay substantial money into the AHL travel fun to offset the costs of team coming in to play there. Those teams are on their own flying around the continent to play road games. As money conscious the Sharks seem to be I don't see this happening unless they literally have no other choice.
Interesting comments from Dave Andrews this morning. Interviewed on Hockey This Morning. Question was would they expand to greater than the number of NHL teams. Answer was no as business model wouldnt support. More interesting, though he talked about expansion to the West. Paraphrashing here but he said, feasibility study is virtually complete, still hypothetical at this stage and likely 2-3 seasons out. I got the impression that this is going to happen at some point.

This will be about the 5th "feasibility study" I'm aware of

There is nothing stopping it from happening if teams want to lose a lot of money and don't care if their prospects lose lots of days traveling.

So would a NHL work stoppage equate to an AHL work stoppage?
