Shep had 4 shots and 1 penalty. Missed in the shootout.

Any idea why the game was so early today?

The date was yesterday...as far as I can tell they didn't issue a paper transaction for Wingels, but I do believe Sheppard's conditioning loan counts so he should be eligible.

My guess is it was some sort of school day thing in Hartford...Worcester has looked into doing one but the logistics don't work here.

YT highlights from today's game. Mash had a nice tap in on the PP. Pelach looks like a mean mofo.

No, I had the last several days off from work so I had to actually show up today and pretend to do something.

I'll catch it on video in the next couple of days and will mention anything worth mentioning.

I have confirmed that San Jose did not send Tommy Wingels to Worcester on a paper transaction on Monday, so Wingels is not eligible to play in the AHL playoffs.

Even if there was no chance SJ was going to send him here for the playoffs not filing a piece of paper that would have made him eligible is a slap in the face to Worcester fans.

My understanding is the player actually has to make a trip to Worcester for it to be legit, not just some paperwork. It's possibly, with all the flight fiasco's, they simply couldn't get him there. Or just wouldn't after all the guys had just had to deal with.

If the Sharks want him on their playoff roster, why would they bother to do a paper transaction (if it's allowed)?

It's not only allowed, there were 20ish such transactions from various NHL teams on Monday to keep players on their NHL rosters eligible for the AHL playoffs (and would have been at least four more but injured players can't be assigned to the AHL even just on paper).

As to why would they bother, it's two communications with the NHL (one before 3pm EST and one after) that would at least give the perception that SJ gives a rat's arse about what's going on here. It would have cost them nothing to keep him eligible for the AHL playoffs and they couldn't even do that for us.

Two faxes. Seriously, just two faxes. That's all it would have taken.

That is only correct if they are trying to remove his daily salary from the cap. You can assign and recall a player and have him not report if you pay his NHL salary and count it against the cap. As I just posted, there were 20ish such transactions on Monday.

Ah, ok. Odd then.

They must just be 100% sure he won't be sent down is all. Or want to instill Wingels with their total confidence. Hell I don't know, i doubt they were just too lazy though, there is some explanation.

I mean they did trade for Kennedy, so they obviously care at least some

We know here they actually traded away Sullivan (No, really, they did. More on that when the season is over )

They could have gone to Wingels and told him they were issuing the paper transaction but the plan was for him to stay in San Jose for the duration. They would not be the first NHL team to do something like that. Lots of NHL teams do it and if word got out they lied to a player about that it reflects badly on an organization when UFA time comes.

I'm still surprised I'm still on this forum - I've pretty much had it with the entire SJ org right now.

But anyway...

Part of it is laziness, part of it is insensitivity (translated means "don't care about Worcester")

As for Kennedy - they didn't necessarily trade for him - it was more to move Sullivan.
