Also 394 days (give or take) until next season's TDL. If still unsigned by then, both Getzlaf and Perry will be considered rentals. Not such a large number after all, eh?

Too much, IMO, although both teams say no, I'd think.

Rangers are first in the East, a move like this doesn't make much sense at this point in time.

This talk makes no sense.....for Anh.

if they are trading a Ryan or a Perry they want 2-3 good-high potential players that can play next year .......the only reason i see them doing this is to to creat more depth as Selanne and Koivu are both done after this year...they have some great prospects in their fold . but it would be a couple of lean years even with a great first line.

could see raymond as par of the pkg..(ie van does need cap relief )... but they would want probably either Tanev or Jensen who would be great prospects going back and another prospect to even justify moving any big name.

ie Tanev(probably ready to play full time next year for van),raymond and another prospect to fill forward ranks? Jensen?...... then they have two forwards able to fill holes in the ranks and a solid dman......

that may be too rich for Van ...although it helps van today it does hurt them defensivly going forward....

anh will end up giving away the by far better player so they need a slew of talented highly rated prospects/players that are ready to go now and fill up perry's spot plus two more spots..otherwise they stay the course

like I said highly unlikely rumor

hahaha, I know, but really, if Perry was mentioned a week ago as a possible Canuck it would be classified as a pipe dream as well. Since we are dreaming over last year's Hart trophy winner, may as well dream about last year's Norris runner up. If we are being choosers, I take the defenseman. But I know, none of this seems likely at all.

As a side note, I do feel that if Anaheim called Nashville offering Perry, they send off Suter in a heartbeat and contemplate on Weber (I think Weber is more the face of the franchise, not necessarily the far superior defenseman).

Probably. I can't imagine Murray letting Pears walk without Stepan being included in whatever the package was.

Gotta beleive that maybe, Vancouver made this type of offer to Anaheim for Perry and someone is confusing this as a deal that is going to be made with simply a GM making an offer.

Seriously, plenty of other teams could top Vancouver's supposed offer....

I don't think he was suggesting it; just gauging value.

Does anyone else get the feeling that this Perry rumour is just a distraction to draw attention away from another player?

I agree, I was just trying to gauge value.

But realistically think this is what it's gonna take to get Perry, or someone of that caliber.

Eh, that's a lot of talent to be bypassing in hopes of getting the Rangers 1st line center. It just doesn't make sense to make a gaping hole at center. Stepan's chemistry with Gaborik can't be overlooked, and the Richards/Gaborik experiment failed already. Once Marian was moved back with Stepan, he took off.

Anaheim would be getting an all-star top pairing defenseman, a top-6 two-way forward capable of 20+ goals and 50+ points, a bluechip prospect like Kreider, and a 1st round pick.

I don't see how this is a bad deal by any means.

Maybe this package is for Bobby Ryan?

Seems a lot more closer to Ryan than for Perry if you ask me.

Realisticaly, thats not what it's going to take to get Perry or someone of that calibre. Look at what Joe Thornton and Brad Richards fetched.

We aren't blowing a hole in our top line without a better reason than that. Also, I didn't outline what the package was, just that I can't imagine Stepan being someone we would ever consider off limits. If he is, then you probably weren't going to land Perry to begin with. This is a Hart winner. I'd rather trade Fowler than trade Perry, and I can't imagine Murray would think differently, but maybe I'm wrong.

2nd thread already? How many words do you need to say, "wow, that's a stupid deal for Anaheim"?

Completely different scenarios, as stated many times before.

Pronger is a closer comparison (our GM made that move) and Perry is worth more then Pronger was.

No, he is not worth more than the best defenceman in the world at the time (2006).

Hmm...you're right. I don't know how Murray would equal what Pronger got in 2006.

You mean the worst trade of the decade and a pure salary dump? Yeah, let's use those two trades as the baseline. Genius.
