Joffrey Lupul

As a Leaf fan, im very proud of this guy. He comes into Toronto after an injury season, and a cap dump and no real high expectations for him and here he is leading the Leafs in points.

I know the Leafs arent going to trade him anytime soon but what do you think other teams would give up for Lupes?

The chemistry hes found with Kessel makes him as good as untouchable to the leafs. It would take far more then he is worth to get him from the leafs.

You wont like the answers you'll hear. He hold a much higher value to the Leafs then he does on the trade market.

No point for this thread. It would take serious overpayment to break up the best duo so far this season.

Exactly, besides there could be one GM in the league (haha seems like a move Tallon would make) who might pay to get him, but his value is pretty low around here.

Worth more to the Leafs then any team would want to give to get him, hope they sign him but not to a long 4-5yr deal

it wasn't like Thornton made every one of those 50 goals go in.

I think you are being a bit generous comparing him to Loui Eriksson value but it would take overpayment like that.

Lupul has underachieved forever it seems and has now put together a single good season. Most people won't give you much for that, he could easily revert to his previous form on another team with different line mates. He has more value to the Leafs than anyone else, I wouldn't even give a 1st for him myself.

That's because 85% of the posters on this board are morons to be totally honest. There are more than just one General Manager who would pay a premium to get him. All that being said, this question is for next year if they don't resign him before then. He is not going anywhere for any price this season (Cue the 85% saying they would trade him for Malkin posts)

True, but he was very effective with 90+ assists

First post here.

Tor: 1st, 3rd (Could be 2013), B- prospect.

Value: Lupul

That is his value to Leaf fans. Or at minimum what I would expect.

Am I wrong?

If he were older then yes but at his current age and good contract, no thanks. It's been said, he's just worth more to the Leafs. People won't believe he's a ppg player until another great season which is a long ways away.

His value would certainly include developed assets. The Leafs are in a playoff race.

I always liked Lupul and hoped he'd become a high scoring forward for the Ducks...Unfortunately, I don't think he had much of an opportunity with the Ducks in his second stint due to his injury. It's great to see him succeeding...however, at this point in time, I don't think his value is as high as his production is this season. Because he's playing well above his career numbers, he's probably going to have to repeat his numbers of this year before people start valuing him on the level of his current production. Toronto probably wouldn't get near what they'd hope for him in a return.

Lupul was already a good scoring winger at age 25ish. As he was getting into the age where players hit their 'prime' he had an injury, along with a very serious blood infection. Almost had to retire from hockey because of it. Ever since he's joined Toronto hes played at a PPG pace (dating back to last February so almost a full year).

Even if this season is a career year. He is still a 50+ point winger.

This, plus the fact that right now, Loops has great chemistry with Phil, and he's really gaining a lot of love from the fans here.

The only reason I'd trade him, is if we were waaaay apart in terms of contract negotiations, and even then, it wouldn't really be worth it as we wouldn't get much out of his rights, even if he somehow scored 100 points.

I'll be happy to keep him until the end of the season and see what Burke can do. I'd like to see him stay a Leaf.

I wanted Florida to grab the Cuz' when they had Allen and Ballard. I'm assuming his value is higher than that now

Is he worth it?

His value wont be higher, its debatable that Kessel has made him better.. and we still lack that #1C. Were essentially trying to acquire a Lupul clone; I'm not advocating to give him up, but we wouldn't trade more than his worth to acquire better, right?

True.

Which is why they wouldn't trade him to begin with.

But I don't believe you'll get much more for him.. He's essential for a playoff birth. Personally I'd be apprehensive to move him to begin with; obviously an overpayment could land him, but whats an overpayment in this case?
