To add to this last thread, this game is being targeted to be played in April/May
And here I was thinking I would be returning to work in the building earlier than anticipated. Excuse me while I go back to my couch and extreme laziness.
Well, that's Newcastle's fault. In general, the EPL teams are more likely to win against non-EPL teams.
Some teams have easier paths to the later rounds than others, it's the nature of the draw.
No Coloccini (inj), and Tiote/Ba/Cisse (CAF) did not help Newcastle today.
Losses against Conference, League 2 and League 1 are unacceptable for any EPL team but the Championship has some very solid sides.
The problem for a club like Newcastle is that they've been more worried about survival in the EPL rather than progression. This year survival is almost guaranteed by now but they were missing 4 starters. Unlike a the larger clubs, Newcastle doesnt have the reserves to replace 4 starters with top quality.
FA Cup 5th Round Draw
1) Liverpool v Brighton
2) Everton v Blackpool or Sheffield Wednesday
3) Chelsea v Birmingham City
4) Crawley Town v Stoke City
5) Stevenage v Tottenham Hotspur
6) Norwich City v Leicester City
7) Sunderland or Middlesbrough v Arsenal
8) Millwall or Southampton v Bolton Wanderers
Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham should all see the 6th round.
