Yzerman also said he will wait and see how the team performs before the deadline. He's not going to be a buyer, per se, but may keep assets

Sell what you can Stevie. The more assets we can stockpile, the more we can do in the offseason. Lots of trade bait..etc.

Well realistically he has already moved the two "big" pieces IMO.

The rest that are available are just window dressing to be honest. Some teams will probably have some interest in a few of them (Clark, Hall, maybe Gilroy although I hope he stays and resigns), but we wont be getting anything spectacular for them.

Im happy with him staying put for now. See where we are on deadline day, and we dont need to be a buyer unless its also a long term move, but we could keep the rest of what we have and make a run and still make the playoffs.

6 points with 25 games left is a LOT of time. Especially with us playing the teams right above us 2 or 3 times more.

Im not gonna hold my breath that we make it lol, but the shot is still there.

I'm really hoping someone likes Clark and trades for him. He's brutal to watch and outside of shot blocking he's useless.

Clark
Vinny (Yes, seriously, I can see him leaving finally, no its not the alcohol speaking)
Bergeron
Hall (Would hope he ends up returning some how)

Come on now, Vinny is going nowhere. So if we trade Clark and MAB is healthy, besides Oberg who gets the call up?

A muy excellente prank on Connolly would be to call him off the ice at the practice nearest the deadline.

Just keep him wondering what's going on, and have the asst. GM, or a coach, or whoever on the phone in front of him, listening to the details in all seriousness (but keeping his own responses vague enough to be potentially ominous sounding).

Then hang up, take a breath, and tell him something like his latest batch of sticks are being sent back because they were two piece, and not one piece. (or whatever equipment quibble would apply for him)

If Connolly gets that he's sort of being pranked at this point, let him in on it.

But if he still seems confused, just tell him it's that he has to try not to break all his sticks until the correct shipment arrives, and then let him in on the joke.

(optional) and then really trade him for Schneider.

Agree with letting Clark go, not a fan at all. Bugsy as well, hard to say since the need for someone, anyone with muscle and somewhat decent hands is a valuable asset; but at 4M+ LOL.

I can see Clark, Hall, and MAB being moved. Malone as well if he agrees to waive.

Downie and Purcell I can maybe see being moved for a good return(overpayment).

We'd be foolish to trade either of them save for a massive overpayment. Downie has the priceless gift of being able to piss off EVERYONE and still maintains a high level of play. He has seemingly removed the part of his game where he does stupid things that hurt the team. Purcell has shown great chemistry with both of our star centres. When he is on his game he is usually the best player on the ice, last night being a good example of that. He is inconsistent, but its easy to forget that he is only in his 2nd full year of NHL play. Consistency will come, and who better to learn it from than #26?

They are 2 cheap top six wingers and there aren't too many of them around.

Not sure we see much more movement. I get the feeling Clark gets resigned, too.

no...no...NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TAKE IT BACK! DON'T JINX THIS MAN! Seriously if we don't think about Clark, he won't be there. It's like the advice parents give their kids, "If you act like its not there and ignore it, then it will eventually go away by itself and leave you alone.". That advice is supposed to work for the Boogeyman, Bullys, and Brett Clark.

I agree...I don't think there's going to be much movement from the Lightning from here to the deadline. If there is, it will be minor.

I really really hope we don't re-sign Clark. Even as a bottom pairing guy, I just don't think he fits.

Just get Suter in FA.

Look, I know that's not *likely* to happen as we're going to get priced out of that bidding war pretty quickly, but holy hell, our team would become way better overnight. Add in a few depth players after that and the cup comes back to Tampa in 2013.

Easier said than done. I'd like to see those picks flipped for roster players, don't have faith in the talent available in the second round this draft.

Might as well put Johan Harju in the net while we're at it.

Just reading various other websites, there might be some interest in Thompson, Purcell and Clark....these are just rumors from around the league, maybe nothing to them.

Of course, teams are interested in Thompson. He's the kind of player teams are looking for at this point of the season. He's fast, strong, great on the forecheck, even better in his own zone, on faceoffs and on the PK and all that at a reasonable price. I just hope SFY knows what we have in him and doesn't pull the trigger. Teams are going to overpay, though, so you never know.

Purcell and Clark I'd be OK with. Clark for obvious reasons (UFA, age, upgradable) and Teddy for the right return (i.e. huge overpayment). He's been playing great in the past 3 or 4 games but we all know how streaky he is. He has both a good shot and great playmaking abilities but more often than not he decides to just disappear and ends up getting benched or in the press box.

Keep Thompson and Purcell. Clark can just go away.

Im probably the only one that wants to keep Clark, of course if we get a decent bid then it's a different thing but I think his effort is a bit underestimated. Shot blocking is something you don't notice, until such players are gone.

Oh I have Boucher on my side!

Quote:
"Clark is Mr. Blocked Shot," Lightning coach Guy Boucher said. "He does it the best and it makes a big difference. We've got dedication here to do that. I don't think people realize, this is a hard thing coming at you. It could crack your head in half; it's going 100 mph so these guys are real warriors. I always say, when I see the players come up that tunnel, I always have the same feeling and thought: ‘These are gladiators. That's what it is.'"

Not everyone is cut out to be a meat shield.

There needs to be a certain density to their bodies, or the pucks will go right through.

I also want to keep Clark, but part of my reasons for that should be self evident to regulars.

I like Clark and I don't know why is there so much negativity towards him? For a bottom pairing guy he has been pretty reliable and consistent...

Last year we got a hell of a value out of him...

As for trading him or keeping him...I guess I would say wait until the deadline and see where we're at, and if things look bleak than look at getting something of value in return. However, I would love to bring him back for maybe a couple seasons if the price is right.
