So how is he doing in OHL? Anyone seen him play? It must be a big adjustment for him as a small skilled player to come to play on that small ice surface and with the different style of play in OHL. He is 7+7 in 16 games which is pretty good, but how does his play looks out there?

From what I have seen on Youtube, I love the way this kid plays. Second in OHL rookie scoring on a middling team, size is an issue. Can any SSM'er give us some insight on how he looks game to game? What does he project in this draft? Thanks!

I would agree to that. I watched him last night and he was electric with the puck, size is an issue but he was pretty strong with the puck on his stick. Speed to burn, great hands and is very shifty, hes worth the risk of a second IMO

Sergei Tolchinsky

Where does he project to go? Will his size be a factor that could hurt him at the NHL level? Strengths/Weaknesses?

Ranked 118th on the North American skater rankings for Central Scouting's final list. Does a team still take a shot on this kid in the first half of the draft?

Please, if you bring up Larionov you will get a huge argument that derails every Russian prospect thread...just please..dont do it...

Love the way Tolchinsky manipulates the opposition on the power play... So quick, great hands/shot/speed. This guy has to be the most purest skilled guy in the draft IMO.

Mmm. The Barkov/Jones/Mac/Drouin/Tolchinsky sweep stakes.

Gotta love how when someone disputed him going that high, and instead (massively over-estimated him) ranked him as a late first, probably 2nd he was called crazy and told his beliefs were ridiculous (for not ranking him way higher than that).

I think he will be in a similar position as Rajala, more skill than those taken before him but will drop due to concerns about his size.

Probably because of his size.. Man let me tell you, he was if not the best, one of the best forwards in the scrimmages at Rangers camp. I've said this before, and all the Russian guys will probably agree, no one in this draft class has faster hands than this kid - they are lightning quick. Fastest hands since Bure.

I suspect he will be either drafted next year (depending on how big his year is ei. performance at WJC and OHL) or at least signed when he completes junior. This guy is going to be a stud whether its NHL or KHL.

He's at Canes camp this week. Unbelievable skillset. Its unconscionable that he went undrafted.

I hope I'm wrong, but I think his lack of size will hinder his effectiveness at higher levels. There's small, then there's puny. Tolchinsky is puny. His skillset is enough to be top 3 pick if he had any size though.

Been following this kid all year. I really wanted the Wings to throw a late round pick at this kid. Hope he makes it, he has an amazing skill set.

The guy might have all the skill in the world, but unfortunately size does matter and he didn't exactly blow minds with his numbers this year. Yeah, the kid has incredible hands, but he is generously listed at 5'7, 150 pounds. It didn't work for Gerbe and it probably won't work for Tolchinsky.

I imagine your probably correct about this. Everyone always points to St. Louis and says it can be done but St. Louis is one of the freak physical specimens in the entire league, his legs are like tree trunks, and even though he's only 5'8, he's incredibly strong and well built at that height. I used to wonder how Mike Ricci had such a great career at his size, and then I saw him at the airport one day, randomly chasing his little kid around the terminal. He had the biggest a** and thickest thighs I've ever seen on a human being of that height, he looked like a walking tree stump.
