Clifford/Galiardi swap

Los Angeles gets,

TJ Galiardi

Colorado gets,

Kyle Clifford

I know something would have to be added to get this deal done I'm just not to sure what...am I close in value or still pretty far off? If I could get some input from some of you guys on here that would be great...thanx

No thanks. LA doesn't have anyone to replace Cliffords role

Galiardi strikes me as a guy that's just not quite good enough at anything. He's decent offensively and seems to be pretty good defensively, but I don't think he's good enough offensively for a top-6 role, and I don't think he's physical/good enough defensively for a 4th line role.

Why would the Avs do this?

He's a great 3rd liner.

He's a great 3rd liner and a decent 2nd liner, he can fill in a top 6 role if needed but looks better in the 3rd line role. At this point I'd say he would prob be a better option on the Kings then Penner...IMHO

Galiardi is actually a really good player, he's probably one of the best pure puck pursuit guys in the league, he is physical and very good defensively. If he can develop his offensive game he is a must keep core player, if he doesn't, he is still one of those complimentary players that teams need to succeed.

Well, I definitely think great is overstating his abilities. Without thinking, I can probably name 50+ players better suited for 3rd line play.

i dont see the kings trading away red dog Hes a very solid phyical bottom 6 player. Hes got some offensive skills that are still developing. I see him being a 2nd 3rd line player in time. Also very popular among the kings fans.

Ok deal, if you can name 50 players exatly suited for the 3rd line that's better and cheaper then Galiardi then I swear to the hockey gods I will not make another thread for 1 hole month...you need atleast 10 other people to agree with your list and I'll be counting as well to make sure there is 50...deal?

Why do you say Go Avs Go when you're proposing a terrible deal for us?

Wouldn't do it if LAK added a 2nd.

We need Galiardi on this team.

Don't worry, it has already been rejected by most kings fans

Yep.
Hoping that the guy is on Colorado for a long time. Love his game.
One cool thing about him is that for 5 straight years, he played 5 different levels of hockey in different leagues and had success in all of them.
A good team player and hard worker he is.

I don't know a lot about Clifford, but I don't think that is a deal I'd want at all.

Definitely a lot wrong with this post.

As for the trade, I don't even see the point of it.

1) Clifford was SUPPOSED to be Simmonds replacement... but he's not. Simmonds has shown a lot more offensive upside. Clifford will likely never put up those kinds of offensive numbers.

2) Clifford is better (IMO) than Simmonds in the gritty type of work. He'll never be (and I hope I never see him) on the 2nd online. He is perfectly suited for bottom 6 work.

3) Agreed Galiardi is an offensive upgrade over Clifford. But he isnt enough of an offensive upgrade to be worth it, since we have no one else in the organization than would take Cliffords role. What the Kings need is a true offensive sniper, and thats not Galiardi

At the end of the day, I think value wise its not a bad proposal, but it just doesnt fill a Kings need, and I dont really think it makes either team better.

This is my thoughts exactly. He has the upside to be a high end third liner and new NHL enforcer as the heavyweight era is gonna end

would really wanna give up a guy that is such a great power forward for Galiardi? I believe Clifford is a huge part to LA's grit.

He will. No reason for the Kings to do this. Clifford is a man among boys.
