Should add that it's gonna be another season where he gets that amount next year. So as of next year, he'll be the LA starter 5 yrs in a row and never get paid more than $2 M.
But I still stand by the $0.55 M Andrew MacDonald contract for 4 yrs with this plus two left to be the best one in terms of absolute cheapness, ridiculous. Nielsen's is very good too but it ends this year.
Honestly, the Sedins are a steal. 6.1 mil cap hits for each. They get two potential 90+ point players for just 3 mil more than Ovi.
Also he's not a big producer but my homer pick would be Pascal Dupuis. Only 1.5 mil a year and all the roles he plays for the pens make him with way more than that. When he has a center to play with, he can score close to 20 and he plays a ton on the PK. Not worth all that much more but prob could deserve double what he is making now
Aside from the odvious, a lot of 3rd/4th liners have considerably cheap contracts considering what they bring to the table non-points wise. (Intangibles, Experience, Veteran Leadership, PKing, Faceoffs... etc)
