Too many people throwing this name around and its been causing alot of arguments...... we know his value isnt as high as we avs fans say but realistically the team getting him would be calling us and anything outside of rediculous probably will be shot down

Pretty sure this a forum to discuss along with others, not just what makes you happy. People aren't always going to agree with each other's opinion but that doesn't mean they're not entitled to it.

Example of Stastny; some people expect one thing back for Stastny while others expect to give another (whether that's all they can or want to give)

Pointless thread. Do you honestly think it will do anything? Same thing goes for Ryan and our own GM said he didn't want futures as part of the deal. Also said only would make a move that made the team better now. Still see countless Ryan proposals for futures.

As the poster said, welcome to HF.

This. He's old, overpaid, on the decline, and injury prone. The only team that could want him at this stage in his career is the Avalanche who have a terrible GM bent on making lopsided trades and holding on to the past glory days. The trade possibilities are very small.

Montreal says hi. We are way better at doing all those things than Colorado can ever dream to be.

HF MATH:

Valuation of your team's player > what he's worth
Valuation of other teams' players < what they're worth

This applies, of course, both to Avs fans and those looking to snag Stastny.

I completely agree that he is overpaid and injury prone but he's 26...that is not old.

Pointless thread is pointless.

Do you even have a source saying so or are you just an Avs fan stating a personal opinion?

The fact is I would say that Stastny is probably the most available of all the #1Cs available due to his larger cap hit, and poorer production. I don't think that means he will necessarily be moved, I just think he is more available than say a Getzlaf etc.

Pointless thread is pointless.
I guess I jumped the gun a little bit; he's obviously on the decline since he used to score nearly a point per game but the last two seasons he's scored less than that, which will probably continue for the rest of his career even if the Avs find him some talented scoring wingers. He also missed 37 whole games one season and has had two full seasons under 70 games played so he's basically a walking question mark.

Lol, somehow it always is...

Your board should consider designating your fans as reasonable or crazy. Perhaps one of your mods could force the title below the poster's name so as to warn the rest of us and prevent threads like this.

I was just reading the Gomez trade thread again. Gold....poor habs fans lol

Anyway, the stastny situation is an interesting one. Can't see him being traded this year though.

But OP, I wouldn't say he's only available for overpayment. He's available for the right pieces that are equal in value to how he's produced over the long term not just the last full season (dating back to last January).

Player perception is really interesting though for him. Mike Richards is producing about the same as Paul this year, and yet you don't hear too much about him crapping the bed. Instead you hear about his other qualities (and Stastny certainly has many of these same qualities).

Agreed. Richards isn't having a good year. Neither is Stastny.

Would would you consider an "overpayment" for a soft 50 point centre making 6.6 million a year?

I wouldn't call him soft. He uses his body well to shield the puck down low and absorbs contact very well.

How about a 25 point center in Backlund, a guy who hasn't even made the NHL in Sven, and 2nd round pick that hasn't even been decided. (Descriptions to counter your interesting description, players for what I think is fair value).

I have never seen such a soft player ever and he will only get 50 points a year for the rest of his career if he is lucky. I seriously hope we ship him off for someone like Leino who can help out the savior Matt Duchene.
