I think we'll have a lot of time to work out the details.

*Ben Chiarot

Even with Flood in the NHL and Chiarot in the ECHL, they have too many defensemen. My guess is Oduya is traded at the deadline and Meech gets called up.
I don't see any reason why we wouldn't deal Oduya. I think the more interesting part is who takes his spot, there are a couple different groups of guys we have in St. John's. Kulda, Postma and Redmond are your prospects. Guys with good potential. IMO, Kulda is already a NHL D-man. Then you have Meech and Festerling, the borderline NHLers. You know what you are gonna get, a bottom-pairing D, not a lot of potential there. I think if we are still pushing for the playoffs, one of Kulda, Meech or Festerling will get the call, if we are looking to the future, I'd like to get a look at Redmond.

Oduya's spot should probably be taken by Kulda. Both are left-handed shots as well.

Winnipeg are clearly the winners here. Although it's a depth trade so it means very little.

Negrin looks like a long term project, hopefully his body can recuperate from the injury and he can continue a developmental course. In around 2-3 years I'd be interested to see where he's at because he still has the potential to be an NHL player. Aliu IMO did not.

Winnipeg would actually be better off bringing up a Right-handed d-man as Enstrom, Oduya, Hainsey, Stuart, and Jones are all lefties. Often causing one or more of them to play on their off side. This was pretty noticeable to me when Jones and Stuart were first paired up as they both made mental lapses and went to cover the left side.

The colorful career of Akim Aliu:

3 OHL teams (Windsor Spitfires, London Knights, Sudbury Wolves)
3 ECHL teams (Toledo Walleye, Gwinett Gladiators, Colorado Eagles)
5 AHL teams (Rockford IceHogs, Chicago Wolves, Peoria Rivermen, St. John's IceCaps, Abbotsford Heat)
4 NHL teams (Chicago Blackhawks, Atlanta Thrashers, Winnipeg Jets, Calgary Flames)
1 EBHL team (EC Red Bull Salzburg)

looking at this trade up front it is probably very minor.neither will likely play in the nhl. however if one of them was to make it i think aliu would before negrin. i say this because of the type of player they are.aliu is a power forward which is hard to find while negrin's style of play is one that is like " a dime a dozen" so to speak.

Ya, but it's Steve Downie's fault.
