I think it would be worth it. Obviously I am not saying the Cup is a guarantee.

I do think that the Wings would re-sign Hemsky if they trade for him. I doubt he walks. However, even if he did walk, if the Wings won the cup I don't see how you call it a bad trade. He is not my first choice, but it seems ok.

And Hemsky is NOT going to convince Suter and Weber to come to the Preds. He's not a name and he's not going to wow them statistically. COULD he lead to more? Maybe. Like many have said, the Preds could add a bit more to the pile to get a Jeff Carter.

Sutton is the prize to me. He would be a dangerous pairing with Ryan Ellis.
Hemsky seems to be over the shoulder troubles so i don't think that should be too much of a concern, the bigger concern would be to find a combination of players that work well with Hemsky because he's not an easy player to play with but if he gains chemistry with any Preds players, it could pay off big time.

I would stay clear of Carter if i was the Preds for two reasons..... He seems like a big market type of guy that would sour on a market like Nashville in due time plus his contract is ugly for a team like Nashville that is looking to sign its 2 stars.

No doubt, seems like a no brainer to accept.

In all seriousness, I think the Wings play style would get far more out of Hemsky than the Predators would. With the Wings I can see him scoring near a PPG. With Nash, I can't imagine him breaking 60

Boy if Nashville was dangling Blum i'd come in and offer Gill/AK for Blum plus a mid round pick in a hurry.

I agree. I think that it is more like Detroit is fair value and the ball is in Nashville's court if they want to send Blum or not.

On the other hand, if you say "You're the type of forward we're looking to build around, and our commitment to you is what Suter and Weber are looking for...so likely if you hang around, so will they," re-signing him becomes a better prospect.

Gene is an oilers insider, if he is leaking rumors then he was told to, driving up the price for hemsky ahead of the deadline, Gene is a solid oielr through and through blum + 1st would be a great deal for the oilers as Blum would be perfect in that top 4

True, I changed my post anyways. My first didn't seem fair to Nashville since they could re-sign him.

I'm sorry, but in what world would a 1st be offered in a deal with Aleš Hemský? That's an overpayment. A 2nd, yes, a 1st, no.

Hemsky's last shoulder injury was in late October and ran to November per THN.

I'll be honest the deal I'd want to see is

Sutton + hemsky + EDM 2nd

Blum + 1st.

These have potential to be very late firsts. I think that is why it is a 1st, I also do not think that either team would have a tough time extending hemsky. They both have great organizations for players, Detroit offers hemsky a great offensive supporting cast. Nashville offers Hemsky to be the #1 or #2 offensive player on one of the best defensive teams.

Both are great oppourtunites for Hemsky IMO.

I would definitely trade Sutton and Hemsky for Blum and a 1st rounder. Once Gilbert and Whitney return, the Oilers would actually have 4 top 4 defencemens (including Smid and Blum).

If i was Tambo i would take the NSH Blum and 1st package as opposed to the DET offer.

The way I see it, Detroit offered what's in the OP and the only thing that could really beat it from Nashville is Blum + 1st.

Someone that injury prone and with a low production rate this year isn't worth a 1st no matter how low it is. It should be a second at best.

Hemsky comes with a novel for a medical history and he's on pace for 35pts this season. His value isn't as high as people think and unless teams are really desperate for a guy on pace for 35pts that is skilled but injury prone and a relative soft player for his style of game, then color me surprised for giving up a top prospect + 1st round pick which would be another top prospect.

Hemsky is definitely one of those guys where if I traded for him, I would worry if he would even be healthy for the remainder of the season let alone the playoffs. That 1st would NEED to be conditional, by conditional I mean if he's not healthy for the playoffs, the Oilers should be giving them a 1st.

I think people hoping Hemsky will contribute significantly during the playoffs will be greatly disappointed. Anything over 2nd and a prospect is more than he's worth.

Just today it Babcock was saying the wings want to add a tough d or forward for the playoffs, so I could see Sutton being on their wishlist.

However that price is huge with the talent of Jurco and the year he is having combined with the fact that Hemsky has been brutal and is injury prone.

Not to mention Detroit would have to move other roster players
