Just speculation on my part, but, given Nabby's strong play recently, perhaps Garth has a deal in place now where he is satisfied with the value being offered.
If he has a deal he would have made it by now. No other team holds out players like Snow does without making things official. You don't "see what you have" with Poulin in 1 game. We know what we have in Poulin, a young goalie with talent who has played great in the AHL who has shown some glimpses of playing well in the NHL. One game be it a shutout or 10 goals against does not change anything on how the franchise should view Poulin.
Funny, how not so long ago people were complaining that Nabby needs to go and that he sucked. I always felt Nabby kept us in the game, save for the odd puck handling stupidness he does once a game.
Montoya is a good goalie too and can keep us in the game, but when he is having an "off" night, he is almost as bad as Dipi.
I don't care about Koskinen and don't think Nilsson will ever be an NHL regular. Other than that, we have Poulin. The problem is that if we trade Nabby, I don't know if our goalies can keep consistent long enough to make a valid run.
Anyway...I will have my eyes peeled to see how Rhett is doing...I really want to see him score!

Absolutely, but Garth may also be assessing how Poulin handles some NHL action IN CASE a deal comes into place (not for Poulin, but for Montoya/Nabby). A backup will be needed with DP retired, err, injured.
On yahoo (rotowire) it says that Poulin was sent down after the game. So again what the **** is management doing. He had ZERO business playing last night and management lucked out with him getting the win. He played well but it does not matter how he played, the WHY is the bigger question. As I said above one game has zero impact on how management should view a player but who knows what Snow is thinking. Why do we insist on trying to outsmart the other 29 teams while we toil in the draft lotto every season.

SNOW MUST GO! NOW!!
Yeah, Poulin looked really out of place last night
Yeah, Poulin looked really out of place last night
You obviously didn't read a word I said. He played well but WHY would he start over our NHL starter. Does any other team in the league pull this type of garbage? If Snow tries to re-sign Nabby before the trade deadline last night may stick out as a WTF why would I sign here for him. Just terrible management despite the outcome.

it made valid sense to play Poulin, The team had been off for a week with the all star break. Bring up Poulin and let him play 1 game and give Monty and Nabby another day to warm up.

Maybe they both are getting over a slight cold or something simple like that? It is the middle of winter. Maybe one of them seemed too tired. Simple things. Why is it such a huge terrible deal that your team played your top prospect goalie who has been playing great? Why does it have to be horrible management and rant and rave anger?

Because Snow must go .
In all seriousness though, HOR, I don't understand bringing up a young stud (who's already played in the NHL) to start a game against a struggling Carolina team. Give the kid some confidence but don't give him the NHL job. Make him earn it. He'll make the most of his opportunities, he certainly did last night.
IMO They played Poulin because he had been playing in bridgeport up until the end of the NHL all star break. So snow was thinking why not play someone who has played actual hockey in the past 5 days against a team that had 5 days off. Its really a strategic matchup move.
I agree its very strange they would do that but it worked
I think this is the reason why Isles management like cappy so much. They think a lot alike. Weird decisions like Cappy calling a timeout in the last minute of regulation vs the Wings..we were clearly going to win the game, but yet Cappy still calls a timeout.

What was weird in that game was the Red Wings playing for the icing when they were down by three goals with less then a minute left in the game. That was a stupid thing for them to do and it stopped the Isles from changeing lines.
