Probably just keeping Luke's spot warm. Adam and Pominville went straight to Montreal and are meeting the team there.

Honestly, what have they got to lose? Give him a real shot, he can't be any worse than Leino/Boyes.

That's exactly it. Vogl tweeted earlier that he was there because Adam is in Montreal already.

You best be trollin, sir!

On second thought, if Ankiel can go from pitcher to outfield...why not

Also, I don't know if I'd be completely surprised if it were true.

It is true. Pominville is not at practice.

you wont see that line in a game though... oh wait, Lindy is still here, so it's possible

Ennis at center? Only if he swore that's where he really felt like he belonged and we doubled his salary before trying it.

He played center in juniors when he racked up all those points. Might as well see if he can use those wheels through the middle.

It may be worth trying at some point, but I wouldn't do it now, mostly because you're asking Ennis to adapt to a position he hasn't played in the NHL while trying to work his way back from a lingering ankle injury--one that might affect his skating, which is more important at center than at wing.

No, he played almost exclusively on LW in the 'dub.

I've been asking if they'd do this for a couple seasons. No reason not to right now with the way they've been playing. If you can eventually have Ennis and Adam at center, move Roy for picks/prospects/another top-6 center and still have Vanek, Leino, Gerbe on the left wing, and Pommer, Staff, Kassian on the right next season, maybe they can get their **** together.

If ennis works out at center it completely changes our situation and ennis instantly becomes untouchable

How many times have we done this. First it was Leino. Then it was Adam. Then it was Pominville(?). Now it's Ennis. Start practicing faceoffs, Drew, you're next!

What's wrong with trying it at this point? It's not like with leino where we signed him to be a center, ennis is expected to play Wing of it doesn't work he goes back and no ones cares, if it does work we hit the jackpot, don't see any harm in trying it

I didn't say there was anything wrong with trying it. What I am saying is that I don't expect much to come of it. The only way they're ever going to address their center deficiency is by acquiring actual centers, not by trying to move wingers in there.

No he played center. At least every time I watched him he did. As well as in the WJC he centered Benn and Sonne.

I'd rather see Myers tried at center.

It can't hurt to try; just to know if he could play there in a pinch going forward. I am under the impression that he played center at Medicine Hat, but was transferred to wing during his first camp with the Sabres. Has he seen ice time at center professionally before tonight?

Quote:
Ennis (10/6/1989, 59, 163 lbs.) matched his career-high with 43 goals, and added 42 assists, in 60 games for the Medicine Hat Tigers of the Western Hockey League in 2008-09. The highlight of the season for Ennis was a 6-goal performance on February 27, scoring all of his teams goals in a 6-2 win over Prince Albert.

"I think if you look at him, hes got some characteristics that are along the Derek Roy line," Head Coach Lindy Ruff said. "He can open people up, he can make some special plays and hes a good player in real tight spaces. Obviously size is a factor but I think hes been able to push through at every level so you hope he can continue to push through."

So far in training camp, Ruff has put the the forward at center - anchoring a line between Matt Ellis and Jason Pominville during scrimmages. Ruff said his thought is to keep Ennis in the middle in Portland.

Agreed. This would be the biggest development of the season. Don't hold your breath, though. I'm a little worried about his defensive responsibilities.
