May 21 - One day after the 2012 IHWC Final Game, the Finnish Ice Hockey Association (FIHA) announces that to replace Mika Sulin, the person responsible for marketing, will be Matti Virmanen, a used car salesman. On the same day, it is announced that FIHA has hired persons named Teppo Numminen, Jere Lehtinen and Ville Peltonen to work for FIHA, while 20-year-long contract extensions are announced for persons named Jari Kurri and Timo Jutila. They are, however, not namesakes but actual players who were seen sitting in a sauna in Hartwall Arena together with Kalervo Kummola during the Final Game. They will all have fancy titles, but nobody has any idea what they are actually responsible for.

According to Finns, the FIN-CAN game drew about 1.6 million viewers, or nearly a third of the population so that's one thing the ludicrous ticket prices haven't ruined.

It's really no laughing matter for the real fan though. Absolutely disgraceful pricing scheme. Not to mention the fiasco over the streaming from the IIHF.

I liked the comment that a morning radio host made to some of the brass of FIHA (could have been J-P Vuorinen) that if 1 x 1 m is the biggest piece of fabric you can bring to the arena, it would mean that Kummola's dinner jacket has to be bigger than that, thus making him a fire hazard.

Nothing is wrong with the countries, but the greedy ******** in the respective hockey federations instead. Quite honestly, I am surprised with how many people have actually shown up to the games with ticket prices so absurdly high.

But I agree that we shouldn't be the host in the future games as long as the people responsible for this mess stay in charge. That is not going to happen though and the same *******s will run the next years tournament as well. They will answer any criticism thrown at them with a reference to the official attendance figures which are not bad at all, and the media will eventually leave them off the hook. I do expect that the ticket prices will drop next year though, no way they're stupid enough to create this mess again.

According to Kalervo "The Hutt" Kummola, Finnish hockey fed made a profit of 7-8 million euros. "That should be enough to hire a couple junior coaches..." he commented for MTV3.
