Ryan Suter will NOT sign with Nashville before Trade Deadline

Just heard on TSN, Suter announced this himself apparently. Someone else can confirm please.

Edit: And Here's the Source

But I would also say Suter sounded like a guy who loves it in Nashville and will give the Preds very much a fair chance before July 1

Man if I was Nashville I would just move him, can't risk losing him for nothing.

Unfortunate for the Preds. I wish he and Weber would both sign and be the most dominant pair in the NHL.

No brainer, Nashville still doesnt trade him. They are going to make a legit playoff run.

I don't think it means he wants out, but it does seem (purely speculative) that he wants to get to July 1 with his options open.

Blues fan here that agrees with you. He moves to the east for some offense. Poile will get a haul from Philly IMO...

Wow. I can't express in words how much I would love him on the Devils.

But, I still don't think he's moved. From Nashville's perspective, I'm sure the reward of a hard playoff run and a potential Stanley Cup victory is worth more than the risk of maybe losing him to free agency.

Honestly, this guy is better than Weber in my opinion. I would give him 7 million if necessary.

Will be interested to see how the CBA (lack thereof) plays into his options during FA in what would otherwise be likely one of the most expensive FA signings since Scott Gomez.

I wouldn't be surprised in the least to see someone pay 7.5+ for him. Will actually be more surprised if he doesn't stay with Nashville at 6.5 or less if they win a playoff round at least.

Doesn't mean much, sort of sucks for Nashville they have to take all the risk here, but I wouldn't expect the player to sign something prior to the off-season anyways.

No surprise here...even if a team trades for him, I'd be surprised if he re-signed with them. This guy (and his agent) seems to be gearing up for July 1st. [it's had that feel for quite some time. Got a feeling he'll sign with the sharks as a UFA.]

With Josi emerging, the time is right to trade Suter. I can't see how Nashville can compete financially with what other teams will offer. Not only that, the last thing Nashville wants is him to sign in Chicago or Detroit. Trade him to the East and at least you increase the chances he re-signs out there.

Rough on Nashville's management, since it means more risk.

But I still think he stays.

Well TSN originally reported that he would not. But Lebrun changed it to "doesn't think he will", unsure which was actually said.

This was expected. We kind of figured this would be the case considering he hasn't signed yet after many meetings with Poile and that Weber is also waiting until summer. This isn't really news.

This doesn't mean Suter is available though. Nashville will keep him for their playoff run and try to re-sign him before July 1st.

Nashville is going to have to be very active at the deadline I think. This is not a cup contender the way things are. I look at that group of forwards and I see a first round exit on the horizon or best case a repeat of last year where they look way overmatched in the second round. A great D, a great goaltender but that offense doesn't have anywhere near the firepower to be around come late May. They either need to move Suter (could get a great haul from Philly) or move some picks for help up front.
