On paper we should destroy this team with the group of forwards they have. But we know it will still be tough. We better win one of these games at minimum.

Malkin alone could beat us. Need schen to pound him hard to start the game.

These are the games we need to win, unlikely we end up 2-0-0 against pittsburgh but i would be happy to squeeze 2 points outta these guys

Just found out that Malkin has 8G and 29A for 37P and 17 career games against the Leafs.

SHUT. DOWN. MALKIN.

Hopefully Gord Miller doesn't go into hyper jinx mode tonight.

I'd be very, very surprised if the boys pull it out tonight. I could see a possible win tomorrow night if they come out hard, but I just can't fathom a win tonight.

I think it's going to be a tough one tonight. Only chance is if the Goalie steals one which is hard to imagine.

If they can stay disciplined and don't give up any softee's, they might keep it close.

why imagine it, when you can just re-watch the past 8-10 games? I don't understand the hate for Gus, if this was Reimer who was playing like this we would be ordering crowns off ebay for him, and asking the mayor for the city key.

Gino is a beast. Can't underestimate the rest of their lineup though... let's get 2.

Why would I hate him?

He's played well but those games won were hardly because he stole them, more like he didn't lose them.

last 10 games Gus has played:
7 wins, 3 shutouts, 19 GA.

hardly is an understatement.

This game is screaming the shutdown of Malkin but goals from their grinders and third-pairing defenseman.

Hope the buds still pull one out though - it's gonna be tight.

IIRC

Winnipeg ( SO)
Detroit (40 SA)
Buffalo (1st game of the B2B) (SO)
Both the Islander games ( 3 goals on 57 shots, 1 SO , In 2 games)

the rest of the games he played solid.

Like I said, its not hard to imagine gus stealing a game for us. He has done it before.

This game was all Gustavsson. He made tons of good saves.

Haters gonna hate.

People said that last year too when they had all those injuries near the end. Bylsma is just a damn good coach, gets everything possible out of his players. Probably the hardest-working or one of the hardest-working teams in the league.

Don't forget the first game against Pittsburgh. He stole that game too. (I know it was the last 8-10 games, but since we are playing Pittsburgh it's a relevant example)

Exactly, after the first period it was pretty well Gus against the whole Detroit squad.
I think he had like 30-35 shots in the last two periods? And he got first star of the game. Like Burke has said, he is one of the reasons were still in the playoff hunt.
