I find the first paragraph very true. I have a little anecdote about it actually. I was in Tennessee during the finals last year and went to a bar to watch the game. Since it was a festival, the crowd was about 50/50 Bruins/Canucks. I talked to alot of Bruins fans who were basically just happy to talk to a hockey fan in general. When I mentioned I was a Leafs fan, one guy even told me he was still bummed losing Kessel, and that he was an amazing player. I found myself hyping up Seguin to him, strange situation. The Canucks fans in contrast were jerks upon hearing I was a Leafs fan. It made cheering the Bruins alot easier. I really truly believe the biggest goof Bruins fans are located in Canada - no question.

What Kessel comment?

Also, I never thought there was a Leafs-Bruins rivalry. The trade just heated things up for a while but there was never much of a real rivalry. I didn't like the Bruins last year but after seeing them beat the Canucks, I can say I have a soft spot for them now.

After the ASG I don't know what to believe anymore. After the skills and game itself, I think I actually like Price and Hartnell. I never thought I'd say that.

It could very well go away next time we play Montreal and Philly but for now, they're just cool guys on teams I don't like.

I respect the Bruins more than any team in the league. They play the game the right way.

Oh how badly I wish we could upset them in the playoffs.

I hate them more than any other team because they have repeatedly kicked our ***es. That being said, I respect them and wish we had some of their players.

Pretty much.

I like the bruins as a team and respect them a lot, but I despise some fans because of their stupidity really. Bruins had the oddest winning cup and their goalie was without a doubt insanely crazy talented so its cool.

No. It didn't.

I never pay attention to or watch All Star Weekend. I use it as "down time."

Boston still sucks.

Pretty much these sentiments.....wake me up when its over...Too bad the hockey season goes into mid-June. Otherwise the NHL could entertain putting this sideshow at the end of the season like the NFL....because really who cares? What a bore.

Real rivalries don't stem from two teams making a trade. I don't personally consider Boston a rivalry and I'm sure most of their fans wouldn't either. You'll probably find a general dislike from fans among both fanbases but I don't really think either fanbase gets extra pumped up to face one another. Well, maybe now Leafs fans because they're holding their breath waiting for the Leafs to redeem themselves for their games this season and after each ass-kicking, the hopes of beating them gets dimmer and dimmer, lol.

After their third game this season, guys like Lucic were mentioning the intensity and the possiblity of building something between the two teams but even the players recognize that there is no established rivalry between the two teams but there's a possibility one could start. Maybe if the Leafs can make playoffs and at least meet them in a round we can come back to this question, lol.

yep

Never saw much of a 'rivalry' with them, beyond them being in the same division. If anything they're exactly the kind of team I hope the Leafs can become.

Since the 70's the only NE teams the Leafs have played in the playoffs are Buffalo in 99 and Ottawa..

Damn we need us some O6 goodness.

Yup. Its like they have to prove to their Boston counterparts that they are TRULY Bruins fans by hating on the leafs. There are prime examples on here. It seems like its always the ones from Canada that have a seguin related username (names like Seguin2Hamilton or Knight2Seguin or TylerDougie).

But to be fair to Bruins fans in Canada, its with all bandwagoners from the Toronto region. Guys that love the Hawks will still hate on the leafs, the guys that love the sabres will hate on the leafs, the guys that love Columbus will hate on the leafs. Its like they became fans of hockey not to support a team but to hate one team.

huge Tim Thomas fan. love his style in net, and his personality. great goalie.

him avoiding the white house made me like him even more, if that's possible. he was already my favourite tender, along with Cam Ward.
