MARTY ST. LOUIS:

  • "It's hard, but you have to train your brain to just worry about the one game. If you're constantly looking online or at the paper you'll get outside information you don't need. Just one game at a time. You can't worry about the standings now. Just worry about winning games and see where that takes you."

Thank god, that long layoff was brutal. Huge game, they're without some key players, but that same team beat Boston last week. Should be a great one!

<10 losses the rest of the way for a shot.

Make or break games coming up vs. the division. What a weird schedule, game tonight...nothing for over a week. Rest shouldn't be a problem, but Rust might be.

Road ass-end of back to backs remaining, Pens, Devils, Canes, Bruins and Leafs

Feb 23-26 is going to suck pretty hard. 8pm start in Winnipeg, travel day, 1pm start in Pittsburgh then a 1pm start in New Jersey.

If they pull this off losing less than 10 games for the remainder of the season, it will be pretty damned epic.

We win if Garon manages to not out-sieve Vokoun. Just score early and take the wind outta their sails. Boston let them hang around and get a lead and lollygagged through the game and it bit them in the ass.

So Nacho got the call up. Potentially to answer the Caps signing and bringing up Joel Rechlicz. Don't think Nacho has a prayer against him though. Silly that they'd call up a fighter though.

February (including this one): 9 home games, 6 road games.
March: 10 home games, 5 road games.
April: 1 home game, 3 road games. [+bonus?!]

It's doable. Let's start tonight.

Lightning coach Boucher said Wyman (pinkie) will play vs Caps and also is unsure if Labrie will play, but that might just be smokescreen.

Because of the death of his daughter Carrie, Phil Esposito will not call Lightning's next 4 home games on radio.

Quiz time *****es

Quote:
An avid reader, Boucher recently assigned his team some homework, asking them to read "Unbroken" by Laura Hillenbrand, the story of Louis Zamperini, a World War II aviator who crashed into the Pacific Ocean and survived.

He knows they read it, too, because he quizzed them on it.

"It's about how someone survived something much worse than what the team is going through and he survived and learned from it," Boucher said. "I believe in that. To me, whether it's hockey or life, I think there is a way out; a way to build even in the tough times, and I believe this is what we're going through right now."

not that silly. i think the alzner fight after the ovechkin thing was the last straw where downie concerned and mcphee may be sending a signal to leave his high end players alone.

Its a signal that his "high end players" cant stick up for themselves when they do dirty things. Thats what it signals.

@wyshynski the best part is that the capitals basically said they signed him to kick the **** out of downie.

In reference to the Caps bringing up a goon. We have last change, so wouldn't be surprised if Boucher doesn't play along tonight. Labrie might drop them if he's in though.

Downie is becoming such a great agitator in the league that other teams are signing players that are HORRIBLE at actually playing hockey, just to deal with him.

I personally think it's hilarious. Basically saying "We're tired of this guy kicking our ass".

Even more so, what does that say about Hendricks?

It will be pretty funny if Downie hands this new guy his lunch too. Dont think it will happen but I would find it amusing.

Hendricks couldn't even beat Rene Bourque. Erskine is really tough though, I'm a little surprised they called up Rechlicz. I guess Coach Hunter wanted to send a message.

And no, Downie wouldn't beat Rechlicz in a million years.

I'd be more surprised if Downie plays more than 12 minutes tonight.

Pretty cool GDT, how do you get those text in the lineups? Really like that.

No doubt he would kick Downie's ass. If Downie deigned to drop the gloves with him. And I hope that's exactly what Boucher is telling him. Play your game, do your thing, and let the goon take the penalty if he won't let it go. We have seen Downie walk away from crap before and goad the other team into doing something stupid.
