Hey, I want that too, but not at the cost of reading into every single answer given by any sabres player about anything and putting a negative spin on it.
We read into things because we want all possible available information to get as best a read on things as possible.

If you don't think their is a culture/character/identity issue in the lockerroom... then you read nothing into that quote... if you DO think there is such an issue, you probably read a little more into that quote, as I did.

There's more than those two options.

I think there is an issue and I also think what Pominville said means absolutely nothing.

You mean... what I already said.

Bucky being Bucky. But at the same time, it shows how fragile the team is, but we've known they're that way for a while. I believe that's the real problem. Not Ruff not being able to get these guys together, but the fact that they're too fragile to take criticism from their coach and get it together. The issues this team has couldn't be solved by a national forum of psychologists and psychiatrists, let alone one NHL coach. It's a mess. We know that Bucky, no need to bash the one guy who made the all-star team and is having a good, consistent season.

Wouldn't THIS be fun:

Send early 90's Mark Messier into that lockeroom as captain and see whose ass he kicks. LOL.

MOOSE!

This. I don't even know why reporters bother interviewing him.

I thought his comment was pretty boring and lame, but it's hardly an indicator of anything. Pominville himself is usually pretty boring and blah, so I didn't really expect him to say anything else. It's obviously not true because he'd be an idiot not to want a number of different players from the ASG on his team.

Pominville probably spent 5 seconds coming up with the answer to that question.

Does it really need to be analyzed THIS much?

NO!! Does this quote even need to make it's way into a posting on a large city's public newspaper? NO. This is ****ing idiotic. It has reached levels I really never thought possible.

And here I sit....still on the bandwagon....excited to see the team we saw in Europe...expecting a major run this second half....

Sullivan was complaining about Pominville's answers (this one and in general) on Schopp/Bulldog yesterday.

I understand why media members care about what players/coaches/GMs say, it's part of their job description. But, for the life of me, I don't understand why seemingly every WNY media member is so hard on Pominville. It seems to me like it's more than just a result of the team's performance on the ice

Of course not, but all you have to do is look at the people who are taking a negative spin on Pominville's nothing comment. That should speak volumes.

Agree that the lockerroom is a mess. However, I dont see anything lacking in what he said. He could have been even more company line and said "we are gonna right this ship, rah, rah, rah".

Maybe he just thinks all laundry should all stay in the room. Large and small. Period.

You can read into any statement. Why bother.

The vast majority of the people who are down on this comment are the same people who are down on pretty much everything this organization says or does no matter who it is.

So it speaks nothing to me. It's the same old noise from the same old people saying the same old thing.

I would think it's because he says the same thing after every loss. "We didn't play hard enough. We have to play a full 60 minutes. We have to play as a team."

Okay then...why don't you play harder? Why don't you show up for a full 60 minutes?

They're looking for signs of life on this seemingly flat-lining team, and when you get canned responses from Pominville you can't help but wonder if he's as lifeless behind the scenes as he is in front of the camera/mic.

Just my 2 cents.

Has Bucky never listened to Poms before? His interviews consist almost entirely of tired sports cliches - have to work harder, not getting bounces, take responsibility, blah, blah, blah. What does he honestly expect? The guy's really nothing more than a professional troll, and a clumsy one at that.

We have 10+ regulars on here (easily) that could write a column far superior to the crap Bucky spews out - and they'd probably do it for free.

Awesome!

Messier and his right hand man, Mike Keenan, moved out the player who had/has played with the most heart in a Canuck uniform in team history. ( Linden ).

As a Canuck fan I still get emotional when I think of that era...Keenan called Linden a quitter and said he was no leader...They pushed him out the door so Mark could run the show. If it wasn't for Burkie getting Linden back that would have been the end of his tenure as a Canuck...

That question would of NEVER even been asked. So it's kinda a dumb to assume. But you know that right?

I think that's naive.

the generic/meaningless answer is something along the lines of "oh, all these guys are the best players in the world, I'd love to have any one of them".

the answer we got was a reflection of a team that is fragile, and a Captain who knows it.
Yep, that has to be it. Because you know exactly what jason was thinking when he answered it. I bet he would have said the same thing if we were in first in the east.

You can take a shot at ANY player in this league, because none of them have had flawless careers.

Still, there isn't one player on the Sabre's roster who is even half the player Messier was. And as a captain, if you weren't pulling your weight, he'd be the first guy in your face. I know that trait seems so unfamiliar here, but he's the real deal.
