Pretty safe to say that if we don't put together a solid win% through these next 12 games, we will be pretty much out of the playoff picture & with the deadline a week later, would imagine that a smart GM would put up the "for sale" signs.
Despite my preference to unload any/all vets we don't intend to re-sign and to focus on adding long-term assets, I'm cautiously optimistic that this team will put together a solid push starting tonight.
my prediction:
8-2-2
putting us in the 8-10 range (), opening the door for Gauthier to add "right now" assets ()
What's your prediction (next 12 games only, from Jan 31 - Feb 21).
Go Habs Go!

We're out of the playoffs and have been since American Thanksgiving last year. My only fear is that we do well enough over the next 12 to convince PG we have a chance. However I expect we'll probably go 6-4-2 and be well out of the picture by then.
I just hope we have a very good stretch or a very bad one. Anything between 5-7 games would suck IMO since we'll probably still be 6-8 points back. I really hope we could be less than 6 points from 8th place after this stretch.
Prediction: 7-3-2
6 points from 8th place (florida or leafs)
Are people making predictions or saying what record they'd be happy with?
go either way I guess...
against common sense, something tells me this group is going to get hot right now, and i think if we get on a bit of a roll, we could see the reappearance of a Hart/Vezina level of play from Price. Hence why I'm going with 8-2-2.
if I was to go with what I'd be "happy" with, I think I'd actually prefer a slide in the other direction, as I'm not sold on this group making a deep playoff push, and given everything, the best thing for us -long-term, would be to make the most of the vet assets we have as bait to stockpile some young assets/picks, and then head into the offseason ready to make either a serious move at the draft to land the superstar caliber player upfront that we have lacked WITHOUT gutting our current quality depth (either by drafting in the top-5, or by pulling off the right trade/signing Parise).
in that sense, I'd be 'happy' with an 2-8-2 slide (even while being miserable with each loss... the insanity of fandom i suppose)
I don't look at wins. With these next 12 games I'm looking at points. They need to pick up 17 points -preferably with wins against the teams also in the race.
17, preferably 19, points out of a possible 24.
Anything less than 15 points, I would start selling.
5-5-2, unless we bring in a player or two from the markov and gionta cap saving. who cares if they don't stay after the season is over. Just get it the **** done and give the fans something to fell good about. Sick of watching losers yr after yr for 2 decades
