Well I was going to watch the Wiz, but according to Buck (the Wiz have gone cold coming out of halftime), me watching is bad luck.

It is nice to see the Wiz in Red, White, and Blue though. Fabulous look compared to the crap they wore.

Wall's jump shot has really looked good of late and I admire Vesely's hustle.

That's about it.

The tank is strong with that bunch...and that's a good thing. Do everything you can to get Anthony Davis to pair with Wall.

ESPN's Future Power Rankings (AL East only):

2. New York Yankees (2nd, 11th, 1st, 6th, 11th)
3. Tampa Bay Rays (4th, 4th, 29th, 2nd, 7th)

5. Boston Red Sox (6th, 15th, 2nd, 10th, 15th)
6. Toronto Blue Jays (13th, 2nd, 14th, 12th, 12th)

30. Baltimore Orioles (26th, 23rd, 17th, 30th, 21st)

individual ranks in parenthesis (major league talent, minor league talent, finances, management, player age and contract move-ability)

As if we didn't already know the Orioles are in a stacked division, it looks like it's only going to get worse.

For whoever cares, the Washington Nationals are 14th overall (14th, 14th, 18th, 18th, 10th)

Nats extend deal with Zimmerman. Good for them, lock him up long term

This is the right move even if Rendon is the 3B in a few years.

This is beautiful. Got a core that's locked up (or at least under control) for a long time now.

I gotta say, it is hard not to be excited about the Nats this year.

Will be even more exciting if they can pull off a deal for a CF but yeah, fun times so far.

Sounds like the extension part is 100 over 6 (plus 24 for the option). That strikes me as quite team friendly. Awesome.

Well he said he was open to a home town discount in return for the security of knowing he wasn't going to be traded. Good on both sides for working it out if indeed they actually work it out...

They did work it out. Done deal. Good on Rizzo, the Lerners, the agents and Zimm.

That's leaving, what, at least $20 mil on the table? Well worth a full NTC in my mind.

Anybody else read the post article about the first day of BP. Apparently Strasburg and Gio were basically invincible. Nice little part about Gio's curveball breaking fast and late like a slider but with much much more break to it. Damn excited I must say for this rotation. If Jackson can only have a bit more consistency than last year it would be hard to not name it in the top few rotations of the league.

A lot of Gio's success was playing in Oakland with those monstrous amounts of foul territory, his numbers home and away were fairly different. But I think moving to the NL and its weaker lineups will help offset moving out of the Coliseum.

I like the rotation. I follow the W-Sox and Jackson finished last year pitching a lot better than he did early on or the season before. I'd probably keep Lannan in the rotation and move Wang/Detweiler to the pen.

I wish they had more hitting though. The pitching will keep them competitive but I don't know if they're a playoff team yet. That lineup needs another bat or two.

Meanwhile in Sarasota...Nick Johnson reportedly looks good in the cage.

And life as a Orioles fan dredges on.

Wang is pretty much a no-go in the pen. Apparently his warmup routine takes too long.
