Very excited to see this guy in action. At 28 years old, this guy is already a certified legend among the kickboxing and traditional martial arts circles.
Trains out of Tri-Star with GSP's trainer who has been hyping him for years now.
He's a striker by trade but also a lifelong martial artist who holds a blackbelt in several disciplines. This guy could be making some big noise in the coming years at 170.
Not to rain on anyone's parade here, but the guy's last two fights have been decisions against cans. I wouldn't get too excited just yet.
And his takedown defense is worse than old Paul Daley's.

Meh. Interesting style. But not sure it's going to be much more than catching guys who aren't ready/able to adapt, until he runs up into someone who can catch him.
Can't believe the "wrestler" didn't even try and take him down. That fight was so embarassing. Hell of a KO, though.
Yeah that dude appeared to be the dictionary definition of "tomato can".
Never the less, Thompson seems to have a very interesting style that could cause a lot of guys problems. Kind of like Machida except with more dynamic kicks.
All he can do is fight the guy the UFC puts in there against him. Great debut and I'm looking forward to his next.
Agreed, and even if he has terrible TDD, I'd still enjoy watching him fight strikers. Each and every guy they sign doesn't necessarily have to be a future title contender, exciting fights are always needed to round out cards.
