Retired Numbers

How long before anyone wears these numbers again? We'll probably see them all at some point again, but it's been quite a few years since they've issued 18.

Also, has 3 been used since Z? I can't remember.

15 was given out quickly, before it's odour had a chance to linger. It was cool how Turris took over 7; Sensations should offer a free Turris nameplate to those with Rundblad jerseys.

Isn't Winchester 18?

People say I would retire numbers easily, but I would like to see 18 retired. Spending over a decade with the team alone deserves the recognition. (I would also like to see Alfie and Phillips numbers retired)

edit:12 not 18

Haha can't believe I forgot Winchester, he's been out so long.

They did hold it out for a few years.

I expect 12 and 6 to be kept out for a few more years.

I was all on board for retiring 4 originally but now I really agree that they should only retire 11 for Alfredsson. Alfredsson is the longest serving captain and he owns most of the franchise's current records.

Like Toronto I think the Sens should honour players by raising a banner with their number up into the rafters instead of flat out retiring the number. Phillips deserves respect and recognition after he retires but I don't think you should get your number retired just for being with the team for a long time.

The retirement of a number should be reserved for outstanding contributions to the organization in all facets of their career such as a combination of awards/stats/community involvement/leadership position/time.

Noesen will be taking 12, Puempel wears 3, Silfverberg wears 33, Zibanejad will be 93.

I really like Mike Fisher as a player and what he has done for this community but I don't think his time in Ottawa deserves anything more than a pre-game ceremony welcoming him back and maybe giving him some kind of painting or gift comemorating his time with the Sens.

That's just me though.

The only two that I feel are certainties are #11 and #4.

Both most likely will have played their entire career in Ottawa and both will have reached over 1,000 games. Both were pillars during our best seasons and both will end up working with the club in some capacity when their careers on the ice are over.

We should retire the number for Rob Murhpy, and 12 for Pat Faloon.

I'm not even sure that the Big Rig's number should go in the rafters. He has been a great servant to the club but he has been well paid for doing so, and I'm not convinced that he has ever been *that* special a player. He'll not have to buy a drink in Ottawa again, but I'm not convinced that he deserves to have his number retired - not that I'll complain if they do.

#11 is a given. No-one can ever wear #11 again for the Senators.

We are assuming Karlsson stays with the team for his career. I hope he does too, but one bad contract negotiation and he could leave.
