That being said, Max and DD have both progressed very nicely the last 2 years so we should be confident in them to maintain this type of production at the very least.

Not by much...
The DD line is outscoring them at ES and they don't have Markov on the PP.

Ya thats true. Two very different styles being played by these lines too though. I don't think they would ever have same success on the PP like Kovy. DD is the one setting things up but he can't one time it when PK gives it back to him which limits the options.
if this is our top line or best line , we are FKED BIG TIME if you want to compete for anything
Cole is 34 not 24 so he is not in our long term plans
Short term then? Still our best line in the short term...

Then how can you include Pacioretty in the list of players you can work with and not include DD?

So trade our top scorers? And in the case of DD, according to you, we do this because he's only a good player on a bad team? So why would we get anything more than a potato in a trade? I think DD can score more points and goals than a potato...

Give me a break. That line is far and away better than the DD line. Anyone who watches the game and doesn't look solely at stats can see that. Some forget just how potent that line was.

I'll take the Cole-DD-Patch line in the playoff's anytime before that AK-Plek-Kovalev. It has way more heart and is much grittier. AK-Pleks-Kov are a bunch of soft players
Actually, Carbo was fired when that happened. Gainey was the one who put them together.
They played together only when Tanguay came back from injury with 16 games to play in the season (earlier, it was Pleky-Kovy and Koivu-Tanguay). But they indeed were great.
But then, Gainey decided to play Laraque on the first line in the playoffs against Boston. Laraque with more than 13min of play in the playoffs...
Such an epic collapse at the end of the season that year and it was 100% on Gainey. Carbo was finally turning the losing streak around and Gainey fires him

Umm, one of these things is not like the others come playoff time...

This is gonna hurt some people with opinions, but sometimes, some opinions are "better" than others. Opinions supported by more information and less feelings/emotions, for example, are actually "better"; not just "different".

If someones opinion is better to you that still doesn't mean it is anymore right. You could be completely wrong on both accounts. Spinning the same opinion 4 different ways with stats or "information" doesn't make your opinion right, stats need context. Blind sheep leading blind sheep = lost herd.

Yes it does. Someone could have the opinion that Marek Malik is a better goal scorer than Cole, and they might even say it's because Malik has scored a through-the-legs shootout goal and Cole hasn't. If scoring "better" goals is indicative to that person of "better" goal scoring, you can see the "validity" in their thought process, but they're obviously, and categorically, wrong about that one, for example.

the question is "best line in a long time"? yes. you'd have to go back to what, 2008? 2007?
and you have to be seriously blinded by 5'7 of hate to not see that a line that will score more even strength point, but less point point total since the whole team has been missing a powerplay quarterback for the whole season, can at least be in the same conversation for "best line in a long time" as the AK27/Plek/AK46

2009, actually. AK27-Pleks-AK46 was the most used line combination of the entire 2008-2009 season. That's why a couple of us are scoffing at the impression that some people have that just over two seasons ago is a "long time", lol. We had one of those lines until the end of April 2009, and we saw the other starting roughly November/December of 2011.
People still want to **** on DD no matter how he plays. DD and company shows up game after game, more than we can say for guys like AK and plek. When the going gets tough and the game is on the line, plek starts his girly game.
A lot of people just go on and on about Eller, he's already rated a first class player by some people around the board, well DD got more points in the first 60 games this season then Eller has in over 160 nhl games.
So lets show some love for DD, if the road runner could play a big man's game. so can DD

I watched the games back then and both lines are dominant. The AK line was more skilled so that's why people are under the impression that it's not close... when in fact, the DD line is just as effective... without Markov.
It should be noted that, to this point, that line has been almost exactly as "productive/effective" at even strength as Cammy-Pleks-A.Kost from last year.
296 mins together, +6 EV strength (+1.2/60 EV mins together)
vs
320 mins together, +7 EV strength (+1.3/60 EV mins together)
That was also the team's principle matchup line too, unlike 67-51-72 which tends to get more shelter.
