Help with stickhandling

I chop at the puck according to my teammate when I stickhandle ?

Does it makE a difference due to the noise ? Cause I do stickhandle well like this ?

Should I work on doing it properly ?

i think what he means it your stickhandling is sloppy and not smooth, this just means you need to practice, practice and practice and it will get better, practice with orange balls, golf balls, and inline pucks

I think what he means by chopping is acting like your chopping veggies. Raising your stick high and bringing it down fast and straight.
Do it soft and slow without the up and down motion and more the side to side.

You want to be "quiet" with the puck. A lot of kids in shooting videos will "stickhandle" before shooting and it's like they're whacking at it from either side. You want to cradle it and be in control.

Get yourself a golf ball and do these drills:

USA Hockey drills

That will teach you to not bounce the puck so much.

Also, when you're skating with the puck, you don't HAVE to stickhandle all the time. Work on just carrying it to either side as well as keeping it out in front of you.
