How much do you think Grabovski will get?

No one, and I assure you on this, no one, wants Grabo to leave Toronto. He's the definition of a heart and soul player.

regardless i hope the contract is signed w TO.
he loves the city (said the only city in North America he'd even consider playing for besides Toronto was Colorado), the city loves him.

the guy is heart and soul and will be missed greatly if he leaves.

He could get 5mil as a free agent. Hoping Burke can sign him long term at like 4-4.5 max with maybe a NTC to sweeten it or something.

Dude has to be our second line center for his career. 8 points in his last 3 games.

I think he will prob sign for 3.75-4 mil if the leafs resign him, I'll go with 4.5 mil if he hits the open market... Unless the leafs package him up to get a big stud forward I see no point in not resigning him. Everyone from the fans to the management seem to love the guy, I personally hope they keep him, really fun to watch live...

4.5 million sounds about right. It's all about comparables.

important to note that burke's been excellent when re-signing free agents. getting liles at under 4m? along with macarthur, kulemin, schenn (in my opinion, at least). if burke can re-sign grabo, it'll be for less than market value. 4-4.5 mil sounds about right.

Solid 1B center. Good playmaker, good goal scorer, all heart, still on the younger side.

He's going to get a nice payday. Thinking $4.5M-$5M on the open market, at least (should be at most, IMO, but that's a discussion for another thread).

Longer term 'tract with the Leafs for 6 years is what I see:

Year 1: $5.5M
Year 2: $5.5M
Year 3: $5.5M
Year 4: $4M
Year 5: $4M
Year 6: $3M

Something like that, give or take.

18 million over 4 years seems realistic for both sides, imo.

I don't want to see this guy in any jersey but a Leafs jersey.

I'd say he gets a 4.5mil x 4 year type deal.

Grabo probably gets 5M in the market, hopefully we get him for 4-4.5. He's a billion times better than guys like Connolly, and Leino etc, so he really wouldn't be out of line to ask for 5M.

Plays his heart out, great defensively, and is decent @ faceoffs, good @ scoring and playmaking.

If Burke lets him walk, he better have one hell of a master plan up his sleeve because there is no way in hell the Leafs are going anywhere with a top 3 of Connolly, Bozak and assuming Colborne (he has potential but that's too much pressure for his first year).

That'd be pretty good value. How well has Burke been at getting discounts during his stay in Toronto?

Also in his favor is the fact that he's on an even better pace than last year despite both of Kulemin and MacArthur struggling to find any sort of consistency.

Very good actually. The recent Liles extension for example where he got Liles to take a pay cut.

He's been extremely good with RFAs, save for Schenn who he gave a fair rate because he wanted him locked up for a while.

Spending on the UFA market is where Burkie overpays slightly to get his guy, like Colby.

He'll get close to 5.5M on the open market. Hoping for a bit of a discount.

He will get 5m x 7y. The market for centres is wicked tight.

I don't see Burke giving him 7 years, that would be a 5 million cap hit when he's 35 and he's not proven enought to give that term...I don't think Burke has given any leaf player a contract that long...

I agree with those who said 4.5 x 4...though Burke may end up giving a 5th year if it means keeping him off the free agent market.

I think the days of the Leafs getting a discount are gone.

Burke said he won't negotiate during the season and not many UFAs re-up between the end of the season and July 1.

The best player on the ice for both teams tonight. Not even close.
